Mine is Columbo!
It's way before my time but I watched it first with my parents when I was 14 and I've been hooked ever since. I love his character, I love the plots for the eps and I love the humour which I do understand for once..
Just one more thing!
It won 13 Emmys.
Did you ever watch The Flumps and The Magic Roundabout as well?
You're right. They don't make programmes like that anymore and I think it's a shame.
I'm not sure I had a favourite character, as there were things I liked about them all. I am inclined to agree with you about Karen and Ben possibly being autistic/neurodivergent. My amusement came not just from the things they would say, but from Pete and Sue (the parents) often struggling to work out how best to respond.
I thought the character Nick was great too, and am in agreement that the series wasn't as good towards the end. The character Ben (Robert Lindsay) often reminded me of my dad, which was part of the appeal for me.
Doctor Who. When I first watched it I fell in love man. It's funny, emotional, tragic, and serious, all at the same time. The show never fails to make me laugh or cry or stand in my chair and root for the Doctor. I was in tears when 10 regenerated and I laughed heartily at the 11th's failed attempts at acting human in "The Lodger". It's my favorite show. The classic series are in their own league. I love new Who and old. My favourite Doctor? I think probably the 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi who not only had incredible speeches which he delivered with incredible passion but also because he was like a classic Doctor and modern all in one. I thought he was FANTASTIC!
So do I , it’s so important to have authentic and relatable autistic representation by autistic people/actors. Have you watched Love on the Spectrum Australia?
It’s great autistic representation but I don’t like the part where a neurotypical person comes to teach ‘social skills’ for dating, they obviously don’t understand that we have our own way of socialising and our own communication style.
I really like the autistic couple Jimmy and Sharnae, they really understand each other’s profile. They are a great example of how important relationships are with our neurokin and how autistic relationships surpass The Double Empathy Problem and lead to deeper connections.
I'm going to be rewatching Columbo soon. Your post reminded me of it and how much I enjoyed it last time.
I like seeing autism portrayed in tv and film. It's getting out there which might eventually lead to more awareness and understanding for all of us old and young.
Good!
I've seen the series and I would say she is, she at least shows some characteristics of it anyway.
Do you think Wednesday is good/accurate autistic representation?
Oh yes, I got confused!
So do I! I think he will bring a different perspective.
Glad you are looking forward to the new Doctor Who!
it's hard to say I like watching Let's get married - I always worry if they will be together after the project, but some people really find their love
I used to use the theme song as my ringtone. I got a lot of looks when it rang in public, think people were jealous I liked the John Nettles era. Was the first I watched, not sure who I prefer though?
Mythbusters! Oh man I loved that show. The grumpy bald dude and the hyper ginger guy. Blowing *** up! I think it was on sky though and I haven't lived in a house with sky for soooooo long. Do they still do it? My recollection is from like...15 years ago.
Castrovalva is a seriously underrated episode to be honest, then again it features on a lot of people's top episodes so maybe it's growing in popularity now?!? I personally thought it was good as well, a great entrance for Peter Davison and if you have the special edition you can watch it with the cast commentary, something I've always enjoyed doing! I like your thoughts on it, and I agree with all of that as do a lot of other people I've read. All in all he had a great run as Doctor Who. I didn't watch it live as I wasn't around then but I've enjoyed collecting them all. I really wish he had done more, though it was awesome seeing his return in Jodie's final episode... He was still as good as ever!
Welcome to the community Emmy!
Wednesday is an awesome series. That little girl is an amazing actress as well, very believable character.
A classic. Always enjoyed this.
