We all have really bad days and when I do I often feel I’m floundering and don’t know where to turn to find some comfort and make the world feel like a less completely hostile place. What strategies do you use on those days when everything feels completely overwhelming and bleak and you’re feeling hopeless about life? What helps?
The people we love are always in our hearts and minds forever x
Even now she's still my reason for living. She was my best five years.
On those days when I'm at my lowest point I sing. Singing is the only thing that gets me back out of the darkness and feeling lifted again. So long as I can sing I know it will lift me out of the darkness again.
I hope things pick up for you Kate, stay strong and don't give up on yourself.
I cry. It doesn't cure the problem, but it helps, at least for a short period of time anyway.
I went to a small local spa today. Hydrotherapy pool, steam & sauna £10 for 1 hour x
That’s very moving. What a beautiful way to still connect to your daughter x
Photographs of my daughter who is no longer of this world. Seeing her beautiful smiling face reminds me of how happy she was and how happy I was. Looking at her always makes me smile and feel instantly better, she is my antidote to depression.
Thank you for the virtual hugs and sorry I didn't see your reply until just now! My notifications never work
I understand completely how you feel. Medical anxiety like that is horrible because you can potentially be unwell but too anxious to actually get checked out
My mum says it's pathetic but she doesn't feel the anxiety I do she can't walk in my shoes and see how badly it affects me and how much worse it would be if I actually tried to call a DR let alone see one!
Anxiety is crippling. I'm so sorry you go through this as well. I really hope it gets better for you Kate I truly do x
I like a hot bath with some gentle music playing find that very relaxing
I had one yesterday - extra hot - and it felt good. I keep meaning to try cold showers but keep chickening out! But I really will as a lot of people say it really helps them.
Hot shower.
It's so good isn't it ^^
Definitely up there as one of my all time fav films as well so funny
Hot Fuzz is one of mine and my families all time favourite films - we LOVE it! We pretty much know every live by heart :)
Yes comedy is always good :)
I've got Hot Fuzz as one of my go to comedy films ^^
Here's one of my most common ones that I go to https://youtu.be/diXTLc46X90?feature=shared
Thanks Goosey - I really appreciate that x I basically can’t go to the doctor because I get so much anxiety about that, it’s a bit of a problem in many ways to be honest! I’m sorry you struggle with this too - it’s not much fun basically is it? (Understatement!)
Thanks for the virtual hugs - am sending some in return x
I'm so sorry about your health anxiety
I hope you are getting the support you need with this - though I know it's hard getting support as an adult with ASD.
I get anxiety sometimes with health as well makes it almost impossible to see a doctor.
Virtual hugs x
You are the lovely human wonderful Number x
Thank you so much for your lonely words it truly means a lot to me.
I am always looking for alternatives and I'm faithful that I will find one that works for me in the end
Number said:It is amazing just how weird and wonderful we all are......lets keep ourselves safe and keep it that way
1000% agree!
Good things are coming I know it I've just got to stay positive x
It’s wonderful that your mum can still bring you comfort in this way - I’m not religious (in the convention sense anyway) but I’m sure if she could know you were doing that she’d be so moved by the fact that she can still be there for you and bring you comfort x
Hi,
I have a comfort item - a special bear that I cuddle when I have a bad day. I got this bear when I was 6 and he's my go to thing when I need that extra bit of support on bad days.
Failing that, I'll go to my mums grave and talk to her. Though she can no longer reply being there I can imagine what she's saying, and that helps too.
