What are you reading at the moment?
Any recommendations?
I mainly read crime novels but have run out of new ones so am re-reading Graham Greene.
I am on Brighton Rock at the moment.
On a kindle due to eyesight issues.
You obviously liked it! I'll push it up my list.
I've been to greenawy house twice.

Have you visited Greenway House? It has been on my 'to do' list for years. It looks like a truly inspiring spot on the landscape.
I have thanks and I love Agatha Christie.
Her novels are so clever, especially MOTOE.
I tried the Colin Dexter novels but I think the series spoilt them for me. They just weren't the same.
I also loved the series although I've only seen it once, when it first appeared.
I'm reading the Inspector Morse books. Very good read, pretty hard hitting in places but still good. I love the series with John Thaw as well.
Have you read Murder On The Orient Express? Another great book.
Thanks for the info. I do have some wrap around prescription sunglasses now which makes reading a little easier, but I still suffer from eye strain when I've read for too long. So I'll also have head towards making some adaptions for myself to make reading a little easier on my effected eye. My other eye is A1, but it's a case of balancing them both up to avoid eye strain I think.
I am probably reading it around 20 years after the last reading (I think I've read it twice before).
So, I am a 'different' person and reading from a different perspective.
Still loving it thanks and actually, because I know Brighton well, enjoying the seedy Brighton from the 1930s.
As you know, he's a writer able to integrate a serious/literary tone with very good stories and memorable characters.
Thank you for the recommendation.
I will look that up.

How is he on re-reading?
(I remember being iincredibly impressed by The Quiet American, The End of the Affair and Twenty-One Stories, but wonder what I would think and feel returning to hsi writing.)
If you can stomach the unrelenting tone, you might like Simenon's Dirty Snow - another Pinky-like character.
You are welcome. I hope you like it.
I've just downloaded a sample of the 1st in the series.
Thank you.

Very pleased to hear that.
It's similar to how I got a kindle.
I've had my eye lenses replaced now but at the time that was done my myopic prescription was around -13.
I could not longer read novels as the writing is too small, even with glasses. Too much of an eye strain.
The emergence of the kindle was wonderful as you can enlarge the print.
Enjoy.
It was a good book. I was recommended by a friend to be able to read the content from it
@basket random
I did have a spell of reading a lot within the past, mainly auto biographies, enjoyed those. Then I had flare up of my eye condition, gave reading intensely a number of years ago. Now considering maybe accessing some talking books, to take the strain off my effected eye. So I'm pleased that you'd started this thread Debbie, as it's made me reconsider reading again within a different way
That's an excellent book. I also recommend The Dispossessed.
I did read The Lathe of Heaven, and I loved it
I'm currently reading Faith Martin's 'DI Hillary Greene' series, I'm on Murder of the Bride currently. Fabulous books.
I read Kindle as well :)
I think the only fantasy I have ever read is the Wizard of Earthsea trilogy by Ursula Le Guin.
Loved those.
I don't anything that might be called 'ambitious'. I read things that are entertaining and fun
I'm almost done with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kingkiller_Chronicle
next will be something I read 25 years ago in polish, that I just bought on ebay, used 10 books from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Amber,
