Bonjour/Hello

Hello I'm from the south of France. I'm Fleur! I have Autism but over here it's not understood that well and if I show it too much they put me in hospital so I'm having to hide it and suffer in silence. I thought joining an online community would be a big help so here I am. Bonjour! Unfortunately I also suffer from bad anxiety and this stops me from going out and getting a job but I do work part time with maman' in her bakery. But other than that I try not to do too much stuff that will set me back. Lots does seem to affect me sadly. It's hard at the best of times but can't turn to anyone for help they think hospital is the answer but it makes it much worse... Sorry for rambling there I just find it frustrating.

I love history it's my special interest and now I'm like a Wikipedia page on so much of history.

Love all types of music.

I like baking to but I'm no good at it really.

Hoping to find support and friendship here.

  • I'm doing all right.  Sorry to hear about your migraine.  Hopefully you’ll get better soon.  Don’t worry about not replying.  Health is more important.  My advice is to take a nap whenever you are not working and sleep earlier than you usually sleep every day, so that your brain gets enough rest.  Will your mother mind if you work fewer hours in the bakery because you are ill and need to take rest?  If your mother needs additional help, does she have a relative or friend who can help her?

  • I am ok thanks, I had my PIP assesment today which is kind of like a disability assesment over here so im a bit worn out.
I can imgaine hospitals are horrible places to be, ive spent a lot of time in them as a child with my grandmother and then some time in there with my wife too and im quite scared of them so i can imgaine it must be horrible to be in one yourself. I hope France changes soon

Yes I love history :-) it just makes me so happy to dive into a history book, I like the fact that theres nothing unpredictable about it too. You dont need to worry whats going to happen because everything in it has already happened if that makes sense. World War 2 stuff really intrests me too. I used to be facinated by the Titanic when I was younger too, so interesting and so many stories around it. I like travel books too, ive always wanted to see the world but cos of my autism i struggle to go new places so books are my way of doing that

Favourite moment in history, thats a good question! I would have to say just before the Berlin Wall fell. Anything to do with East Germany facinates me. Whats your favourite time in history?

The smell of baking is amazing! Whats your favourite food?

I dont know much French music, is there any singers you would recommend? My favourite singer is Beatrice Egli, she is a Swiss singer

  • Ooo are you from Ireland? I've always wanted to go it looks lovely. I guess it must be talked about a lot there for me it was instantly fascinating. Over here famous restaurant and especially the Eiffel Tower are a bit boring for me but other people love them :)

  • My uncle bought me a book about the Titanic, when I was 12, which I never read. Smiley Just didn't interest me.

The Titanic is to Ireland what Hillsborough is to Liverpool.

  • Bonjour! How are you Billy? It's lovely to meet you here. Merci. That's sweet of you and I do appreciate it. Hospitals are horrible places to be, I don't want that again, ever. I'm hoping things will improve over here. Change needs to come it can't go on like this.

Ooo a fellow history geek:) I love the World Wars, Egyptians, Romans also Cold War and have a special interest in Titanic. Do you have a favorite moment in history?

I hate the crowds but I love baking and the smell, so delicious and heavenly.

I love so many, mostly French lol but I think there's something peaceful about French music. I like others though like Queen and Ed Sheeran.

  • Coucou, that sounds tough to have to deal with but I'm glad you have a little support. I'm always here for you if you need anything or just to vent. Always happy to support anyone.

My notification don't work the best but that might be my connection signal maybe.

  • Bonjour Fleur, lovely to meet you. I'm sorry to hear things are so bad in France, I had no idea it was like that. I can't imagine how awful it must be being sent to hospital, im here for you.

What sort of history are you into? history is one of my special interests too, i love anything to do with the cold war and Eastern Europe in particular and German and Swiss history.

It must be nice working in a bakery, i love french pastries. Theres nothing better than fresh coffee and pastries in the morning!

    Who are your favourite singers?

  • Oh my goodness, thats awful about Poland! I had no idea

  • Sadly parts of america do that too

  • Oh that is awful that it's like that in Poland. If you're autistic here getting work is very hard, no one wants to hire someone with autism because we're considered mentally ill by most. Hopefully it will change all over in time.

  • Salut Slight smileSight stuff has its challenges, but for the most part I’m very lucky, having learned Braille and having access to the technology I do.

I’m not sure if my notifications for messages on here are working, so if you do you want to message and I don’t reply, just let me know on here and I’ll get back to you :-)

  • Oh you should definitely do some more if you come up with any more ideas. You said it right absorbed, when you get into something and it absorbs you it can be so much fun and interesting. I love to write but can't do too much it makes me dizzy after a while and can cause migraines.

  • Bonjour! Omg no way that sounds amazing. I love the smell of a bakery. It's one smell that doesn't upset me. Are you recently diagnosed? I'm pleased you found the answers in the end :)

Yes it's very bad here. I'm writing a book about autism in the hopes it'll make it more aware and understood.

  • It needs to change here but at the moment it doesn't look like that will be any time soon.

  • Pourquoi salut. Votre français est très bon. Peut-être devrais-je parler en anglais pour simplifier les choses?

  • Bonjour!

I'm from the South of France it's the only place I've ever known. Though I would like to travel around one day. I'm sorry about your sight that must be difficult for you do you have any support?

I'd love to talk to you if you want to :)

  • Bonjour! How are you today? Sorry I've not been here I've been unwell with a chronic migraine.

  • so france is like india and china? which when they hear of things like autism they call it a made up western illness? lol

  • I think the problem in the UK is basically underfunding in general and relatively greater underfunding for neurodevelopmental and mental health. There is not an ingrained antipathy to the recognition of neurodevelopmental conditions as exists within the French medical community.

  • Bonjour! I used to live above a bakery in France. Oh that wake up to the smell of pain au chocolat and brioche and coffee...hmmm. La Marianne me manque tellement. But that was in the 1980s and I had no clue I was autistic.

But God, seriously, 21st century France and the ignorance is that bad? God, bless you. And yes, hospital is no place for autistic people. I hope we can help.
