Anyone going to watch / discuss? Looks interesting though I expect lack of empathy may be going to be applied like a blanket as usual and the Radio Times mentions 'cures' !!
My OH knew all along and my Dad knew (he is a medic) but my Mum never did but they are of the age when you were just got on with it. My best mate at work is a female css genius and is probably borderline and one of the few who understands me,
There aren't many lady programmers which is an odd thing given what happened a Bletchley Park. It nothing to do with apititude.
Mind you she is in tea room crowd which I find far too daunting. Too many voices, Not helped by me destroying my ears being in bands though
Crikey...i’m nerd herding....what amazing people you are!
Fixed one bug..got 10 more!
...
how many programmers does it take to fix a light bulb....?
drumroll.....
boom
none, its a hardware issue
thank you and goodnight!
Absolutely the same here. I worked in investment banking for a while and always got the weirdest bugs to sort out.
Having said that it can be horrible working in other people's randomly put together code. It is like a toddler threw some bits up in the air and let them land and resisting the urge to refactor everything is difficult,
You are right in that code is simple and life is difficult and I am happy that work is not an issue. It is a comfort.
That’s absolutely fantastic well done! I’ve always thought something like this should be done. Keep us updated :D
BTW my gut feeling is that my OH is not really all that NT either, maybe that makes a difference
Some people will just say "well that's the non-surprise of the century" and some will want not to believe it because it makes them uncomfortable. I did wonder whether my OH would be in the latter camp, but when I told him he just shrugged and said "well, you're still you", which was nice.
I wonder what my dad will say. He doesn't know yet.
Funny that you are a programmer too! There aren't so many of us lady programmers about (bet >half of us are aspies though - Lol)
Really? Wow this is pretty funny. Mind you, I have a theory about that. We spend out lives being told "you're too black and white". I think that's why computers, and particular programming, appeals to us. Black and white, ones and zeroes, true or false. No maybe, no vagueness, it either is or it isn't. If, then, else. Wouldn't it be nice if you could analyse life like that? I think that is why I find programming very comforting.
Oddly enough for most things in life I have the lowest patience levels that most people have ever seen. Give me a bug in code though and I will go at it for hours, like a terrier after a rat. Sometimes I will even dream about it.
We have a young contributor on board who wants to put together a publication on special interests, Laura James et al, this forums members and hopefully nas on board to help with message distribution? !
Would you be “in” if we gave it a punt?
I tried twitter and couldn't get my bearings, it was my idea of communication hell. I wish I could do it.
Do you think we can get NAS aware...Aspie (I.e ASD and aspirational) women’s day? Dream big...what is the worse that can happen! Hope you’re listening moderators!
If you pardon the pun...Aspie women need balls and have balls! Lol x
You just tweet her that’s all....shes’s Aspie...and no one like s a busy inbox.,
Yay, well done Ellie, that's very impressive! xxx
Also a programmer! Lol
Snap - me too! I bet there are a lot of us programmers out there who would be different from most folks, especially in our thought processes, but because we're all a bit different, nobody really notices! I'm with you on the patterns thing. It definitely helps
Don’t forget us folk down here... :)
Quite a few people in showbusiness have come out about it, and have been pleased to. Many of them talk about it positively. Gary Numan is convinced that it has helped him with his musical creativity. Then there's Daryl Hannah, Dan Ackroyd... and Paddy Considine:
