Dyeing my hair

I'm thinking about dyeing my hair today. It's been brunette since forever so I'm thinking I'll go Large blue circleblonde, but I don't know if I'll cope and adjust with a new colour.

But unusually I've got an urge to change things up a bit but it's also making me anxious.

  • I dye my hair sometimes but not very often because like you it can cause anxiety lol. But sometimes the change is nice isn't it, like having a haircut. Kate Kestrels idea is good, try an app that can show you how your hair will look with a different colour. You can also do this for haircuts as well. I do this, allows me to prepare and work out exactly what I want before I get it done.

  • When I decided to switch from brunette to blonde, I was both excited and anxious. It's natural to feel a bit unsure about such a big change.

  • Have you tried those Apps that you can upload a photo and try different hairstyles and colours? That might help you decide?

  • Blonde is often best left to hairdressers especially as a natural brunette. my hair is light brown and still quite difficult to get blonde without damage. If I’m too gentle to avoid it getting very dry I  usually end up a bit orange

  • You can always darken it again if you don’t like it. I don’t use chemical hair dye as I’m very nervous about the chemicals and also don’t like the smell. I’ve always used natural henna which is really lovely to use - but it’s permanent so once you have used it it’s very difficult to change the colour so you have to grow it out really. I like it though so that’s ok. About 20 years ago I had a hairdresser dye it blond but I didn’t like it, so I then dyed it pink over the blond. But I wasn’t too keen on the attention my pink hair brought me so I started using henna. The henna powder smells like hay which I really like :)

  • I always worry about getting an allergic reaction to the hair dye.  So I follow advice that I was given years ago which is to take an anti allergy pill an hour before dyeing. Hopefully this will prevent or minimise a reaction.

  • Could you use a soft washable dye. That way if anything goes wrong it'll just wash away.

I haven't used hair dye. I don't even like washing my hair, it triggers my over sensitivity so I know I would struggle with dye.

My hair is white from a condition disease I have. Not cool for a 20 year old. LOL. If I could have any colour I would go for jet black.

  • You could always try a wash-out colour (like the sprays or hair chalk) and see what you think of it before you really commit.

I'm always pro-hair-dye though, I haven't seen my natural hair in fifteen years so that's my normal now!

  • Although we autists aren't so keen on change, sometimes I feel like you do to today.

Sometimes my brain goes wild, I think today is a wild day.

Will you be able to dye dark hair so light I wonder?

I saw some videos online and I'm hoping that it would work out.

I have fine, straight, blonde hair and I've always wanted thick, brunette, curly hair

Your hair sounds gorgeous. Mine is long brown but not curly, just straight, never seems to end lol.

I'm probably not going to bother now. I'm tired and my head hurts after all this thinking lol.

  • There's an old expression 'a change is as good as a rest'.

Although we autists aren't so keen on change, sometimes I feel like you do to today.

I've tried dyeing my hair all sorts of colours and none of them would take.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.
