I noticed that someone on this board recently described themselves as like Commander Data from Star Trek. Very able intellectually but struggles emotionally and socially. It was something like that and I can't remember who wrote it.
But I thought Commander Data was a good metaphor for how I feel and behave- able intellectually but struggles emotionally and socially. Does anyone else feel like that? Data was my favourite character in Star Trek, this must be why!
That'll be me. In the Star Trek universe, I'd do very well. On planet earth, I'm screwed.
I also identify with "David" from the film A.I. - sort of robotic and *almost* human but just missing the finer details of human interaction so easily manipulated by people with an agenda..
I'd be an excellent android, haha! I love Data, with his fake laugh. It was interesting how Lor was too human though and scared people.
I hated AI, it was sad and horrible. When the mum had to abandon the little boy android in the forest, it gave me nightmares.
Ha I love data by the way I met Sir Patrick Stewart a couple of years ago it was awesome.
No what’s that?
please dont bother
I'll try to find the detailed breakdown for you. Disney is in big financial trouble - 27000 employees made redundant recently - Disneyland California may end up closing permanently.
There's also an investigation going on into 'financial irregularities' that have been going on for years over-declaring profits.
They just announced that the cruise business probably won't re-open until mid 2022 and the Disney annual passes have just been scrapped.
This is from a few months ago - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3moZor9uuDE
why has this formatted like this ?
Shares of Walt Disney are up 15.6 percent since last year and more than 127 percent since Disney purchased Lucasfilm six years ago today.
Over 23 total films, the MCU has grossed nearly $23 billion at the worldwide box office. Lucasfilm, meanwhile, has delivered five films for Disney in four years, generating a gross profit of nearly $2 billion for the conglomerate.
I wish I had bought some shares !
Only in turnover - not profit. They are even losing money on the merchandising.
Disney bought Lucasfilm six years ago today and has already recouped its $4 billion investment

I'd have to agree - I'm a huge Disney fan but for the last decade or so, they've got the "reverse Midas touch" where everything they touch turns to crap.
I watched a detailed financial breakdown of Disney's handling of the Lucas franchise - they bought it for 4.7Billion dollars and after all of the costs are taken out, the distribution, marketing etc., their TOTAL profit to date for all of their investment is only 600 million.- which should have had some Disney Execs taken out and shot!
I love everything until Disney sequels came out.
I watched them when they came out in the 70s/80s and loved them since then. Obviously the original ones, not the prequels and sequels.
Yes may 1997 I saw the remastered at the cinema have been obsessed since.
YES! Love Star Wars. I was so happy that time they remastered the films digitally and realised that Luke has a lot more dialogue than I thought. He just mumbles a lot. And Mark Hamill is such a wonderful man.
