What type of craft/making do you like?

Hi all,

I was inspired by a thread yesterday about knitting, to start a craft or making thread to see what people on here like to craft or make. I like to bead/make jewellery, the type I make is sewn out of seed beads, into a variety of patterns. Included are some photos of my latest piece, a necklace which took 12 hours! Please feel free to share your craft/hobby and a picture of your latest/favourite make if you wish.

  • I like making jewellery at the moment with dremel drill on stone but normally I use wood I.e carving pyrography ect.

  • Thank you Blush It didn’t take too long (probably 12 hours which isn’t that long when it comes to sewn jewellery) as spiral staircase stitch isn’t too complicated. The end result is deceiving though. I’m very pleased with it!

  • Wow!   That looks amazing - must have taken ages!   (and good eyesight!)

  • I finished this necklace a couple of nights ago which I shall wear with a teal dress on Christmas Day. It’s spiral staircase stitched with rainbow navy seed beads and Swarovski Crystal colours graduated through green, blue, purple and pink :-)

  • I thought I’d share with you a mug that I’ve been colouring in a bit at a time when I have the time over the past couple of months. I’ve finally finished it! Although I’m not sure whether or not to colour the background? If I do colour the background then I’m not sure what colour to use? It seemed apt to share it on this thread. Which brings me to another mystery of the NAS forum...This thread was huge! About 3/4 of it appears to be missing! Why have large chunks of my thread disappeared???

  • The lunar landscape is certainly part of what my works are about, more and more layers of complexity. All my works are open to interpretation on any kinds of way and the interplay of light changes theovetall mood of each work, sometimes quite dramatically

  • Awesome creativity nexus9,

it really draws me in, The tiny little swirls caught my eye, reminded me of ammonites I have collected over the years,

I also instantly saw what I perceive as a bears face within the whiter part, my take on first seeing your art was of a cloud floating above a lunar type landscape, the rectangular shapes being field boundaries and the lower central thin gold shape being a mountain ridge, the bear face is definitely there peeking through the clouds.

I may have interpreted your art differently from how it was intended to be but it is still awesome and I find myself coming back to look st it again and again.

Really glad you are passionate about your set forms and that you sell some.

I will try posting a copy outlining the bears face, but after posting this reply as all to often the whole post fails to post, picture size needs resizing, still trying to work that out, Gidfy did post a link up for me but I even failed trying to use that.

  • try this site for squashing your pics down i found they need to be in kb not mb

  • i love steampunk stuff and the costumes i wouldn't dress up myself to self concious but its very interesting the rally is usually held between oct and nov so plenty of time to prepare this years event  lone, i liked this pic from last years

  • I shall look this up, (Haworth in Yorkshire) I have two main likes in the way I dress, Victorian worker in his Sunday best and way out hippie come steam punk.

I have a thick Long black coat with tails and large collar, embellished with embroidery that swirls all over in bright vivid colours, large colourful buttons, top hat and stainless steel safety specs thick round glass lenses from the 1940’s, with stainless mesh side guards.

I look like a circus ring master but more colourful. The bright coloured stretch fit  flared leggings add that sixties touch. Think David Bowie  Lol.

I have many hippie clothes, as well as Victorian style. Collarless shirts, double Albert chain and pocket watch, waist coat, flat cap hat. All leather old style shoes polished to perfection.

I keep trying to post pictures but no joy, the pictures of tools were taken with a camera and do post the clothes and me with an iPad and rarely post up here? Some do and some don’t? Sometimes a picture like my aspie quiz chart will and other days won’t?

shame really as I even cropped my head off to stay within  NAS rules.

  • I have a Nexus9 painting as pride of place in my music/game room! "Sleeping Pyramids", it really fits the description.

  • Your coin collection sounds amazing! I wish I still had my coin collection :-(

  • Thank you. I think it's good to have some lighter threads on here as well as the heavier threads where people are needing advice. In these lighter threads people can chat with the community in a more relaxed way

  • A really interesting thread kitsun thanks for posting it

  • Started a choker this evening at my craft group. I’ll post another photo when it’s completed.

  • oh no, shame you didn't keep them

  • i like to think it was a pirates treasure trunk lol

  • and expensive lol if only i had kept all my corgi and dinky toys

  • Great, I'll look forward to seeing the fairy garden in the summer :-)

  • i guess they're pretty self explanatory and no i tend to give them away mostly
