Those of you on here who have posted alongside me on here for years will know I am a opinionated fellow who can get drawn into serious debate. However I would enjoy having a thread that is not too cerebral and where we can be gentle and kind to each other. So let me cast this spell and see if it works.Veni Vidi Vici.
When you say water colour pencils do you mean like pencil crayons but they only work when you dip them in water? I had some like that when I was a child. I remember they were fun to use as less messy than paint in a tin and water and the colours came out much brighter than pencil crayons.
I've got loads of ancestral sewing kit, my Nans, my gr Nans, my gr, gr aunt's and my friends mums, I need to get rid of it, but I don't know how, it's to good to throw away, but I'll never use it.
Has anyone ever used gouache? I think it must be the one medium I never tried before I gave up trying to do any art. My favourite to use were chalk pastels, shame I can only draw a bath. I sw some some lovely pictures by a local artist yesterday, they were really simple, but I knew that if it had even ocured to me to try to do what she does, it would look like a dogs dinner. Why are most five years olds better at art than me?
I didn't even know that was a thing. Old, but not obsolete. (like me, I hope)
This week I visited a museum to look at natural history objects which were new to me (e.g. I had not seen iridescent fossils before); to kick-start some inspiration in preparation for attending a doodling course via our local Recovery College this Autumn.
Following the museum visit, I called into a small and yet well-stocked independent art supplies shop.
I bought for myself a pair of Derwent pencil extender tubes (each tube in the set accommodates a different diameter watercolour pencil etc.).
This addition to my art box means I can anticipate the rediscovery of those previously well-loved pencil crayons / sketching pencils etc. (which are too short to be comfortable to use on their own now) ...to enable their enjoyment for several further projects for a while longer than I had previously feared.
He certainly sounds like a bit of a bounder.I will consider a moggie for company once my remaining fam die.
Mostly, most human don't try and pull your trousers down when they want milk like my cat Boris does. But I prefer most cats to most humans
Are they easier to get along with than Humans?
I think this is just humour is it not?I guess I must be sensitive huh? ;)
Yeah, it's 100% Nylon, and it's washable in the washing machine. It's really thin and transparent and hard to see, so I get it tangled a lot.
A moggie, they have fewer health problems and are just as lovely as any of the "breeds" and less expensive to buy and probably won't have been bred by kitten farmers.
I totally understand! I used to buy my wife all sorts of art supplies because she is the artistic one. She never has time though, sadly. The good news is that they are pristine!

I have the biggest ever tin of watercolour pencils, plus more and more that had such nice colours I couldn't resist them.
I may be a colour hoarder...
This reminds me of how much I love art shops. I am not an artist. I can't draw or anything. But I just love all the colours and neatly lined up pencils, pens, paper and paints. They are never so good when you get them home - unless you bought a lot!
Basically, I want to own an art shop. One that doesn't have customers
My dog-niece who I am looking after from Thursday for a week was spayed last week. Poor thing. We were expecting a head cone, but instead the vet gave her this zebra patterned onsie...
Here she is feeling very very sorry for herself yesterday. She actually cheered up a lot during the day.
This was taken several weeks ago when she was just feeling sorry for herself because i was playing with her human sister and not her - I posted this before, but is such a nice picture of her.
While she was knocked out, they also de-haired her ears on the inside because they normally have as much hair on the inside as you can see on the outside . The hairs make it easier for insects and stuff to get in.
I am drawn to the gold (top left) and the teal (bottom right).
