Does anyone else struggle with mornings ? Feeling down or disconnected
I like the night. It is peaceful and quiet and you can concentrate. I used to wonder about it, but maybe it is the reduced sensory input I liked. I always went to bed at 1 or 2, and if there was no work the next day as late as 4 or 5am. Obviously this made me not so good at 7 or 8 am
Anyway, in an attempt to improve my sleeping I have been falling asleep at 10 or 11pm. I still wake up after 5-6 hrs, same as I have done for decades. So now at 5 I feel the same as at 8 or 9 before.
I'm not sure I'm really a morning person. But as was written on school report 42 years ago, I can't burn the candle at both ends.
As James Thurber put it, ‘Early to rise, early to bed makes a man healthy, and wealthy, and dead.’ Having said that, mornings are the best time of day for me. I start yawning after lunch and, if possible, drag myself to bed soon after 9p.m.
Ditto.
Mornings are anathema, for me. More productive at nighttime.
I changed my routine and showered this morning. I don't feel zingy but it's an improvement, simple but useful I also found this link on inertia which may be helpful ? https://autismawarenesscentre.com/what-is-autistic-inertia/#:~:text=What%20are%20the%20common%20traits,on%20to%20the%20next%20thing
I think we've all been indoctrinated to believe there's something holy about mornings, usually by people who like getting up early and don'tlike others being in bed when they're awake, I think this is a form fascism. I don't think us night owls keep larks awake, I think larks have FOMO. As long as you function and do the things you need to do as well as want to do, why does it matter what time of day you do it? Personally I find the night quieter and calmer the energy is much more chilled and I find it easier to concentrate and do some of my best thinking between the hours of 11pm and 1am. If you got up at 7am and went to bed at 11pm would you actually have any more time in waking hours to do things?
I think nights and shift work must play havoc with your body clock. Don't know if blue light might help first thing to help reset a morning clock ?
Yes, I'm not good at mornings. I was fine in my teens and early twenties and seem to have regressed somewhat. I think years of night shifts and shift work in general messed with my body clock somewhat.
I'm trying to enforce a bed time routine at the moment, more so on workdays as my sleep is not good!
Me too. Just feel like I waste half my life. Sometimes feel bad getting up late I'm not lazy just struggle to get going.
Thanks that's interesting showers are good, I procrastinate and struggle to get going especially now I'm retired. I'll make that change though - thanks.

I don't do mornings anymore unless I absolutely have too. I spent far to many years dragging myself out of bed at the crack of sparrow fart, to want to do it now I don't have to, I'm an owl, I go to sleep at about 2am and wake up about 11:30 am.
Yeah mornings are rough. I typically silence my alarm at least two-three times per morning. The morning shower is what really bothers me, but I find I feel a little better throughout the day doing showers in the morning than in the evening.
