Non-Crime Hate Incidents - Code.

This feels incredibly dangerous for Autistics - has anyone read this completely? Does anyone at the @NAS @mod know if there is legal assistance and if there is an Emergency number for any incident involving the misrepresentation and misunderstanding when Autistics are falsely accused?

At a younger age, even late into my 20s and 30s I would've re-stated things I'd heard others say to try and seem agreeable to others around, to fit in, to try to make friends, and severely misunderstood the context. Or a thing is accidentally said backwards or with the wrong vocabulary due to maturing slower, due to a difficulty with words. Around 30 I learned: Anything I say can and will be held against me. This felt unfair, but I kept repeating that phrase to myself.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/non-crime-hate-incidents-code-of-practice/non-crime-hate-incidents-code-of-practice-on-the-recording-and-retention-of-personal-data-accessible

"A non-crime hate incident (NCHI) means an incident or alleged incident which involves or is alleged to involve an act by a person (‘the subject’) which is perceived by a person other than the subject to be motivated - wholly or partly - by hostility or prejudice towards persons with a particular characteristic."

  • The important thing is those on the reciving end have the nerv and money to bring cases against the police when it happens.

  • In my experience, most autistics aren't here to dominate and 'win' at an argument for the sake of winning. That's how the NT world works and it's not at all enlivening or interesting.

In my experence autistic people take a difrent aproch to arguments. The default position is 'I am right; prove me wrong.' Where as NTs like to test the tempriture in the room with some vuage statments and then formulate their argument more fully after they know where others in the room stand. Personally I think the autistic way is better.

The autistic way is not combative because they are obsesed with being seen as right. It's combative because they are sure they are right. If you poke a fatal flaw in their logic their opinions actually change (not nessiserally in the interlocutor's favior). At which point the NT arguing with them will accuse them of 'changing the goal posts' or 'not being consistant.'

  • You apreciate 'non crime hate incidents' are not crimes hate or otherwise? They are little notes the police make in the dossiers they keep about people when they did something that wasn't a crime that upset someone. Maybe you don't see that as sinsister ... I certainly do, but either way by definition what we are talking about are not crimes.

  • Dear NAS95845

We would like to remind you of Rule 5 of our community:

Rule 5: Be nice to one another and enjoy chatting with others. We encourage conversation and respectful debate; please be aware that individuals may give opinions which are not shared by other members. Insulting posts or comments making personal jibes will not be tolerated.

    Kind regards

    Liz Mod

  • Nothing to say about the Left and Fascism then?  Your claims about that are false.    I believe in the truth.

    Great attempt at deflection though.

If you're going to lie to me I'm going to call you out on it. Pandering to autistics as though they are babies with no agency is your politics, not mine.

People who commit hate crimes are abhorrent. Why do you  see yourself in such people?

  • educate yourself.

And again. Why act like a NT toddler in a SAFE Autistic space? Get help if needed, but this is borderline gaslighting behaviour on a post which is designed to Protect Those with Learning Disabilities and a Difference in Communication!!

No one has "One Chance" unless you're making a death threat on my life. Humans grow and learn as they go along. Sometimes, it takes some one decades of chances to change if they're lucky.

Do better. Especially if you're over 60. Or go troll somewhere else.

  • I can't imagine if you treat others on here like this what kind of unnecessary weight you inflict. But it's completely disrespectful.

In my experience, most autistics aren't here to dominate and 'win' at an argument for the sake of winning. That's how the NT world works and it's not at all enlivening or interesting.

I am politically bound to care about and vote for the politics in TWO countries, which I have family in and am impacted by. So, do the intelligent thing and ask what country one has residence in and can be arrested in before making giant inaccurate assumptions.

Second, we don't say this to others, as it's not an NT Social space, which perhaps you'd prefer.

You have no idea what you are talking about

Don't jump into a thread making sweeping dramatic productions and then attempt to exit the stage with your 'last word'. I could care less about it, but it's generally unappealing and only makes you look like the accusations hurled. Either engage in a useful philosophical dialectic discourse or scroll along.

  • No thank you.  I'd rather remember the victims of the ***. Many of whom were on the Left. To compare this legislation to Fascism is to insult the dead.  Pampered idiots will never understand what horrors of Belsen and Auschwitz were like.

You have no idea what you are talking about and your understanding of history is severely limited.

I wish you and the likes of Mr Musk would keep out of the politics of my country, as it is none  of your business.

  • I could not understand what the HR person was talking about. The reason I had to go into so much detailed questioning was to reinforce to myself that I was correct as I was completely floored by the outright denial. It ended up with my union officer and HR arguing over the point and the meeting was adjourned.

I didn't want to get into too much detail on a open forum as there still has not been a resolution to the investigation.

  • Oh goodness! If you'd like a comprehensive list of the social-political understanding of fascism from a historical amount of Philosophers on Fascim and why it's a Left-leaning 'group huddle', I'm happy to supply.

You could always start with Foucault.

It's not really a "belief" situation. Fascism is a concept created through political philosophy to help explain or define our understand of How it Works. How did Hitler get the masses on board from his Democratic Socialist Platform and manage to turn it into his own Regime. You're welcome to come up with your own definitions, but I find it a better conversation to use the same dictionary as the professionals who still write books and research on the matter.

  • This feels like the goverment is still sore over loosing Miller v The College of Policing [2021] and is trying to argue loopholes into the courts rullings. In fairness courts are often vuage in their rulings against the goverment to give future courts room to add nuance later. I expect we'll see more freedom of expresion cases against these NCHI records and the courts will probably make clar these 'loop holes' don't exist.

  • I disagree that a Fascism of the Left exists.  It's oxymoronic. I bid you good day.  Also your we does not include me. I think hate crimes should be punished. And I support this legislation.

  • I think the situation is rather difrent when the the people bullying you are the goverment or police. Something about dealing with the police might be more apropreat here don't you think?

  • thats ok. that does sound like an interesting idea you have brought up for the mods  and it would be interesting what the the mods think of it cause it would be helpful for  autisitcs that require that sort of help for any autisitics that find themselfs in that situation in the community

  • Thanks, @Zo - @mods I think we need a FULL PAGE on this site dedicated to helping Autistics who have been unjustly accused and are facing trial or investigation ether in school, by the police, the workplace or a court of law.

Autism is unknowingly discriminated against because we appear to Non-Autistics anti-social. Even with formal lessons in communication techniques, one won't ever pick up all the social cues. It took me an Error of Years to learn fundamental values in a healthy exchange and even still I would trip over my words. At 50 I'm merely cautious and have good boundaries. A code like the above is how Autistics, especially undiagnosed, will end up incarcerated.

  • This is a mild but good example of the above. Thanks for sharing.

This makes no sense to me:

I was accused of contradicting myself for giving the reasons I questioned the staff member and for saying if they had just admitted it then there would be no needed to question further.

But THIS is exactly how NT's operate. I've seen this in action:

blatant denial and asked what proof did I have

Things like this always catch me off guard. In a work situation one has to do all this extra mental work to come across in a way that's not accusational "I know it's a few minutes, but being late isn't tolerated and it's my job so help me help you". Overseeing others who aren't autistic can be exhausting!
