I've noticed that if I log out of the forum and log back in (not something I always do) then the landing page is an open thread from years ago.
Hence, I believe, this is why some members are answering very old threads - because it's there in front of them and they don't notice that the thread is donkeys' years old.
How old (long) is a donkey's year?

Flipping heck, it's warm tonight!

And... it cost Six Million Dollars to make him bionic?
But not only that, there was a bionic woman as well??
It sounds really good actually!

She didn't quite have the sax appeal of Wonder Woman..
I think most of my old stuff has been given away. I still have stripey tshirt that I've had since I was in my late teens.
Six Million Dollar Man in a very futuristic font . It was my obsession as a small child in the mid to late 70s. If you don't know it was a show about an astronaut who crashes a test plane and has his right eye, right arm and both legs replaced with bionic parts. Then every week he went on missions. When I watched it again more recently, I was touched by what a gentle character he was. Not matcho. Not smooching ladies every week. His heart belonged to... The Bionic Woman! Who I was in love with too!
'What does it say on the t-shirt?'
Six million dollar man.
What does it say on the t-shirt?
I think the oldest item of clothing I have is a long black dress that an ex-boyfriend bought me back in 2000, when we had gone away on holiday. I'm not sure what it's made of, but the fabric is like a stretchy velvet, and feels really soft and comfortable to wear. There is silver metallic thread stitched on to it, which reminds me of fireworks.
The last time I wore it was at my dad's funeral in 2019. It's more of an 'occasion' dress, which has only been worn a handful of times.
And here he is in all his faded glory. "Steve Austin... A man barely alive..."
Thank you for your answer, I have only just seen it. I like to know back stories of things.
threads on the thread...
my oldest thing is a little boy scout folding magnifying glass. It's a fav stim thing.
The first part really made me laugh our loud. Deliberate, or just my unlocked childish sense of humour? Or both!
I think I've got some knickers that are 10 or 12 years old.
I had to log in earlier and found myself in the middle of a post I'd not clicked on and wasn't interested in. to be honest I find the way this site works strange, you could be right about the ancient threads, but I think some pop up from time to time when you go to start a new thread. I've started a few threads and as soon as I've typed the title a side bar comes up with a list of previous threads on this topic and some of those are old. But I think there are some people who just like disintering ancient threads.
I still have a burgandy shirt that I wore on the first date with my wife (well over 20 years ago) - she has the dress from that date and we do dig them out on special anniversaries.
Disgustingly soppy I know..

In 1888 George Key designed a new type of coat made of a hard-wearing material developed for those who were working on the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal. Some of the navies worked on donkey engines (a steam-powered winch or logging engine), providing the inspiration for the name of George Key’s new coat: the Donkey Jacket.

On the theme of donkey, when I was at college many moons ago I had a donkey jacket because they were in fashion- no longer have it though. I wonder where that name comes from too.
