A post for Peter & the others who "want a meaty discussion"..

I get emails from a few people vastly more articulate and more able to organise their thoughts than me.

They usually would like me to sign up to their paid services, which ain't gonna happen unless somethng changes in my relationship with "money".

This one guy really does seem to hit the mark rather well, but today he clearly explained, with pictures for us slower types, exactly what the hell is wrong with the world.

AND YOU!

And there's cat pctures...

  • By your own definition I wouldn’t  be reporting threads that weren’t  ‘support threads.’ Which is kind of the  point, someone would have to come up with a definition. That definition would please some people and displease others.

as I’ve said not having to walk on eggshells is one of the things I consider an important area of support for me as an autistic person. it helps give me a sense of security. you don’t seem to like that definition of support.

in the unlikely event that the mods did try to pick a definition of what counts as a ‘support thread’ it’s bound not to work for some people, to make them feel left out. I would merely highlight this fact by shining a spotlight on any rule bending. And surely enforcing the letter of the law without bias is the very definition of fair. At least as fair as the rules are themselves.

  • P.S. actually what I would probably do is stick around for a while to report every thread that wasn't in my view strictly a suport style thread because everyone has their own blind spots about what they think should be allowed. So I'd try to get the rule enforced so strictly that everyone became sick of it

That’s unfair for the rest of our autistic community that rely on this space as a support network day in and day out.

  • and of course Rule 7:

    • This is a hate-free zone for autistic people, their families and friends, and professionals working in the field. We do not permit sexism, homophobia, racism, anti-Semitism, religious intolerance, transphobia, disability hate speech, hate speech, obscenities or pornography to be posted or linked to here.

  • Please remember our rule 5:

Be nice to one another and enjoy chatting with others. We encourage conversation and respectful debate; please be aware that individuals may give opinions which are not shared by other members. Insulting posts or comments making personal jibes will not be tolerated.

  • Yes I understand that but many of us including myself would like it to be.

And many of us myself included strongly oppose this. TBH, as the othe thread would indicate, if we had some sort of rule to that effect I'd probably leave.

P.S. actually what I would probably do is stick around for a while to report every thread that wasn't in my view strictly a suport style thread because everyone has their own blind spots about what they think should be allowed. • this is not EXCLUSIVLY a suport forum and never has been.

Yes I understand that but many of us including myself would like it to be.

This space is for us autistics to feel accepted where we can discuss our dedicated interests, talk about everyday life and also discuss the complexities and joys of our autistic experiences.

Obviously I am aware that this autistic community means different things to everyone.

  • this is not EXCLUSIVLY a suport forum and never has been. It's an autism forum ... although in fairness the autism angle in this thread is a bit lacking.

  • I would have felt the same way, too, at your age.

  • Left and Right, nowadays, is about lifestyle choices; rather than economics or social issues.

The kids that always finishes last rigs the game, so he may win. It's a huge ego trip. Our society refuses to accommodate for loss. A lot of the COVID Groupthink was forged, primarily, out of weaponised grief. As well as the Rehab mindset, where everything is Life-or-death.

  • <groan>, looks elsewhere...

  • I have.

And you have to tolerate my existence.

    Good, innit..

  • In case anyone doesn't want to read this delightful piece of literature, here is an excerpt from the rant, and as far as I can tell (having read it twice)' the crux of its message:

this is the inevitable outcome of aggrievement culture where professed marginalization is mistaken for status.

it's an iterative negative sum game where to stay on top, you always need to be "more oppressed than thou" and so it rapidly selects for the most broken, damaged, and bereft people and shunts them to the top by acting as though they are somehow virtuous for being disastrous human failures.

i mean, how can that possibly end save the calamity of rule by the mentally ill?

    Nice, ISperg.

You have really shown your colours here.

  • I rarely if ever follow links, I don't know what I'm going to end up looking at and I don't have any speakers on my pooter so I can't hear anything either.

I'm a wordy person, but I don't think you need to be wordy to express yourself, nor do you need external sources to make your point.

  • It would be preferable for the mods to step in and deal with the repeat offenders.

I'm sure the NAS is only willing to put up with so much, they don't want this forum to be seen as a toxic environment.

  • I don't see how you think posting external links like this is acceptable on a support forum?

    I agree.

It's a great illustration of why I said what I did on Peter's 'boring' thread and why so many forum members have left due to divisive posts.

More departures due soon I suspect.

  • I'm well aware how much [edited by moderator] there is on the internet. I don't see how you think posting external links like this is acceptable on a support forum?
