Does this make any kind of sense to anyone?
For me, society seems to be present me with a choice
1. Act normal, uptight and be accepted on the surface, as a walk down the street, but feel depressed, isolated because I have internally obliterated some of the essential quirky parts of my character.
2. Relax, act a bit quirky, and have people avoid me in the street, and be treated like some kind of rapist, mad animal or wierd alien sub-species.
From my own perspective, it seems that people outside have this extra, unnecessary layer, that is like an armed militaristic assault vehicle designed to convince people of their social status - it makes them seem fake, uptight and often rather reactionary, even if they identify as progressive or left wing, because they can't see past their social conditioning needs, that they push in my face at every possible mimenf. If I try to conform to their behaviours of physical uptightness, pushing out my personality like some kind of armed militaristic assault vehicle then my body has to become extremely tense indeed, it's like I'm absorbing all their uptightness, and externally I seem to go to the extreme of their behaviour and often appear robotic or irritable or unreasonably idealistic.
So, that's my dilemma either become robotic or be treated like a potential alien-weirdo-rapist.

I found reading these comments disturbing.
It's really a case of 'welcome to my world'.
I've tried very hard to keep myself safe all my life and that includes not walking anywhere alone which is isolated and especially after dark.
It actually ISN'T safe for women and I'm sorry if the repercussion of that is that you feel uncomfortable, but I can assure you it's much worse for us.
If I were walking alone somewhere that I was vulnerable and a single male came towards me (or even worse several) I would instinctively be on high alert, and with good cause.
%30 of my town's population are foreign immigrants. You don't often hear english spoken on the high street. The town has changed to an alien culture far removed from what would have been considered normal. There may be many indoctrinated, inclusive thinkers out there highlighting the cultural "contributions" made but after the public admission by Suella Braverman MP of the failure of inclusiveness and the social upheaval I and many others have witnessed with a dramatic increase in crime rates, litter, disgusting public habits of spitting, nostril clearance,organised shop lifting, and a recent local round of open daylight assault muggings, makes it very difficult to to grasp the positive aspects of immigration with the profound affect this example of social behaviour must have on our youth, and on our general population. I am a 6 foot 17 stone male who will not walk through a local wooded area at night with my dog, and have actually been advised by the police NOT to. So Debbie, sorry to add to the disturbing comments, but it is all true. You and I both have good reason to be fearful.

A lot of this is associated with poverty in general rather than immigrants specifically. It would have been just of true of the British chav. And if nose picking is serious enough to make your list of social ills, I question your perspective.

Are they? A lot of the non English speaking ethnic minorities where I live are 2 or 3rd generation. Integration has been a slow process for them. Partly because they haven't been well welcomed, partly because of the formation of ethnic enclaves and very largely by the practice of endogamy (marrying within your race / nationality / extended clan group). In terms of migration, I expect foreign spouses is a far more significant contributor than asylum seekers. Not only does it represent a form of migration for that spouse it means their children are much less likely to integrate into British culture and more likely to seek foreign spouses themselves when they grow up.

Very brave of Braverman to admit that it's all the fault of a minority group she can scapegoat rather than, for instance, the fact that our police and prisons have been chronically starved of funding during her government. Immigrants are also obviously to blame for our crumbling schools and rivers of sewage.
