Just had a note on the web portal with an update on waiting times for the assessment appointment for anyone who is interested or in the process at the moment. Not great in terms of my anxiety over it all but I can't really fault it when I'm one of the people adding to their caseload.
my waiting time was 3 years because my gp didnt bother to send the referral and left it on their desk then stupidly asked if i wanted them to send it when i rang them up about it 3 years later, still waiting now.... probs 4 years by this date now. thats kinda how it is for me though, society always neglected and forgotten me lol too bad they dont forget about me when it comes to paying their wages by my tax though eh
I had to deal with a lot of HR and a lot of people with degrees in humanity, and my opinion of them is very, very low. Some of them are decent, but they end up changing career very quickly!
Thank you! I'm nearly 40 so it's a bit late for me too.
Hopefully you here from them soon...I had my interview last Thursday and was officially diagnosed. I was also given an ADHD test to fill out after the interview as they think I may also have that condition also. They have been great so far in my situation. I'm 51 so diagnosis for me is very late. Good luck with it all.
You can't judge all people by a few individuals. As I said, my husband was in HR for years, has a psych degree and is one of the kindest, most caring people I've ever met. As are a lot of the people he's worked with. I also have a humanities degree and am a woman, does that make me vermin too?
Their only objective is to cover the company against lawsuits. They would throw you under the bus in ten minutes, all while chanting about "inclusiveness" and "equality". They are all useless vermin, no wonder why 90% of them are women with psych or humanities degrees
Sounds like you have some bad ones there. Not all of them are like that, my husband did HR for years before moving into IT.
I only got my assessment to have an official letter able to keep the stupid c0nts of HR off my back.
I'm fully expecting to get no official support if I'm diagnosed, that was one of the reasons the GP didn't want to initially do the referral. I would be low support needs so there's not really much around for that on top of what I'm already doing in terms of counselling and CBT, and the medication I'm on for my anxiety and depression.
My main reasons for going for an assessment is so I have an answer for myself, I don't deal well with not knowing, and also to help me understand my reactions more so I can work out how to deal with them.
With suspecting I'm autistic and having an anxiety disorder, and my son being diagnosed as autistic, it certainly makes for a more thorough planning process. We both need certain things to be able to go away and making sure it's all in place in advance helps. If not there's guaranteed meltdowns for both of us.
I’d never heard of psychiatry uk before joining this forum, it’s nice that they’re keeping you informed. I was waiting a total of 15 months with the nhs and that was on their priority list. Just a shame there’s no support after diagnosis
I understand the urgent need for there to be a PLAN!
Ooh, that's good news. Hopefully they don't contact me too quickly as I'm going on holiday next week
Although maybe seeing the anxious and super sensitive me in the run up to the holiday would help them make their decision. My husband is dealing with my planning and prepping as well as he can but I think even he's starting to get annoyed at me.
Hey BeckyThump the good news is the website was also saying this when I was waiting and I just got my diagnosis on Friday.
I was contacted on July 6th to book in my assessment appointment and the meeting took place on July 21st - so hopefully you don't have too long to wait now!
Ok, thank you, that helps, I'll be looking at end of September/October then if that follows.
I've sent the forms by the end of March, and I got the appointment in June
Was that after you'd submitted the forms? Or from when your referral was sent?
Got diagnosed some months ago, waiting time was about 3 months
That's great. I'm pleased for you.
They've been pretty decent in terms of their response so far, all communication has been within their specified timeframes.
