I am constantly being denied jobs because im Autistic does this happen to anyone else
yes that is true about the clause in your contract this is why getting a diagnosis can be bad, without one, u can mask and survive in work.... This is the big dilemna for people with autism, the big catch 22.
If you don't mention you have autism during the interview stage it can come back and bite you and i am saying that from experience. Some companies have clause in the employment contract such as very popular pub chain in the United Kingdom that mean if you do not disclose anything in the interview stage they have the right to dismiss you. Even when that is not the case they notice something they consider wrong with you and manage you out somehow.
Sometimes during an interview you can't mask the unusually parts of yourself, like the need to self regulate during a stressful interview in an unfamiliar place.
Yeah, don't mention it.
I have never got a job after discussing my autism.
Worth mentioning that autism based organisation are just as bad, you think that they would be more accepting but not at all in my experience.
I was sacked because I didn't declare my Autism as a disability - but I despised that job then, and was too antisocial back then.
Maybe you need to spin your Autistic Idiosyncrasies better. You could describe it as being 'Target Driven,' or 'Highly Focused.'
Ha cool I always says replenish the shelves at work everyone says fill the shelves.
I concurr
Hello my advice would be not to mention your autism at least until after you’ve got a job and they know your a good worker. You have to be careful who you tell a lot of ignorant people out there.
I concurr ( fancy word for agree )
It will depend on the company - if it's a private company that has to deliver a profit to survive, they'll see you as a risk. If it's a government or charitable enterprise, they are more likely to need some token diversity hires to balance their political quotas - but once you're in, if you can shine, you become an asset to them.
Well, if that's the sort of people they are, maybe not working for them is "dodging a bullet".
"in a survey of employers more than 50% of employers receiving a job application with autism mentioned, bin the form immediately" --- this was said at a presentation I attended, i dont have a source sorry.
Or if they know tell them of the special skills you have with reliability. Commitment lateral thinking etc
yes this is a known fact so u must not mention it at interview
