Every day at work heated in a microwave:
Frozen Corn, Edamame beans/Broad Beans
Fresh Broccoli, Carrot, Sweet potato. (Geez I love fresh Broc- why I hated it as a kid I don't know)
Something crunchy: Croquette, breadcrumbed proteiny food
Chicken soup as a sauce
Grated cheese on top
I feel blessed I'm happy to eat the same thing every day
I’m going to make the pepperoni pizza rolls for my children.
Thank you. Yum (I love bread) I'll look into them and see if they can be adapted for bread machine
ok. Perhaps will spur me on to being a little more creative :)
I’m going to have to post some of those Sainsbury’s magazine bread recipes on here once I’m home from holiday
I'm the same. I have the same packed lunch as when I was a kid. Butter sandwiches, crisps, sometimes a piece of fruit and a biscuit.
I've thought about looking into what I could do with my breadmaker but it always just comes back to a weekly basic loaf and a fruit loaf. Best is treating self now and then with a thick cut off a fresh cooked loaf
Home made bread is the best, we often make our own too. There were some great home made bread recipes in the August issue of Sainsbury’s magazine, must try one of those soon
I think of food as just a function. I don't want or have the interest to cook at all. I keep it simple by using frozen veg foods that'll thaw by the next day ready to microwave (carrot/broccoli has to be fresh though- blanched and then frozen). It's all ready in a container in minutes for next day. I really can't bring myself to buy every day. (there are food outlets everywhere where I work- geared up for students) but austerity over the last 10 years has gotten me into an economical but fairly healthy diet I hope.Been making my own bread for 10 years too. In a breadmaker. Wouldn't go back to shop bread ever now.
No lunch box, but where I last worked, there was a great little sandwich shop just around the corner; baps the size of your head, fresh fillings from local butchers/greengrocers, always made to order, and cheaper than Subway etc. too. It became a running joke after a while that for the whole 3-4 years, I always ordered exactly the same thing (chicken mayo on wholemeal with salad). My colleagues found a different part of my lunchtime routine amusing - in the whole time I was there, I never once remembered to ask them not to put any tomato in the salad, so every single lunchtime I would sit back at my desk and starting rummaging around in my butty to fish it out!
God forbid that I had a late lunch and they'd run out of my "usual" - aaargh, the only half-hour in the working day when I had no decisions to make completely ruined!
Honestly though, the monotony of my diet would probably shock most people. At the bottom of my rucksack, there's usually a big clump of old Tesco receipts, and I'll bet you that there's barely a single item's difference between any of them. I can carry enough home to do me for about three days, and that's about all that will fit in my share of the kitchen cupboards anyway, so exactly the same meals go round and round on a 3-4 day cycle. I've always wished for a little hatch in my tummy that I could just throw bits of wood and coal into, like a pot-bellied stove - I find even the eating a chore most days, never mind the cooking or the shopping.
A bowl of porridge for breakfast. Slice of toast for lunch. Usually have a couple of handfuls of nuts during the day.
It's always been either veggie curry and rice or black bean chilli and wedges for me
If I eat shop bought noodles then these from Aldi are good
Haven’t made any homemade pot noodles up for ages! I might have to make a batch up again soon
These are the best pot noodles, hands down.
I'm a big fan of instant noodles, tried most types. These just do it for me.
Yeah, I like Ainsley's ones!
me too
Nothing, I'm on a diet/cutting lol.
Thank you!
Despite eating a fairly varied diet and reasonably healthy evening meals, my lunches have been a variation on sandwich, bag of crisps, chocolate bar. Sandwich can be substituted for burgers or Cornish pasties, or the whole thing swapped for a cheeky McDonalds or KFC, but that's about it. Sometimes I add on skittles, Red Bull or cola bottles if I feel I need it.
packets of cous cous ?
