Hi all,
I was inspired by a thread yesterday about knitting, to start a craft or making thread to see what people on here like to craft or make. I like to bead/make jewellery, the type I make is sewn out of seed beads, into a variety of patterns. Included are some photos of my latest piece, a necklace which took 12 hours! Please feel free to share your craft/hobby and a picture of your latest/favourite make if you wish.
What size did you compress them to?
I actually never wear jewellery, apart from simple rings, yet I get so much joy out of making jewellery. Glad you like the necklace. Good luck with your new beading venture, please post pictures of your creations as I’d love to see them
that sounds interesting. What is an Edison lamp?
you need to compress the photos. There’s quite a lot of online tools you can use. They have to be compressed to less than 1mp and saved as a jpeg file. There’s further guidance on this website about size of photos
how do you upload pics every time i try it says error occurred ive compressed sizes of jpgs down so not sure what im doing wrong
I am not sure if these will show up, but here goes......I work with wax, clay, acrylics and gold and copper wax paint, with glass fragments, mirror fragments.
I build large model boats. I built a Liberty Ship before Christmas and I'm a few days into my latest model, a WW2 British Destroyer.
I can’t add pics either.
You’ve just inspired me I never considered jewellery making (maybe because I’m not wearing any) but this necklace is amazing. So amazing I started reading about bead weaving, watching video tutorials and ordered some beads and nylon cord. And I’m going to have some fun
Have u thought about getting back into it at all Robert?
won't let me add my pics :-{
i like making things and i am an avid collector of tools i like doing paracord weaving and i make edison lamps im currently decorating a printers tray with knic knacs and some art pieces that are based on tress pics attached
The basket weaving actually sounds really interesting. Have you thought about taking up a craft as an adult?
Thats lovely that your client gets so much joy from making pottery. Sometimes as adults it’s easy to forget how much joy we can get from making crafts, I did when I was younger but now I make time for it as it’s ‘good for the soul’
As a ten year old in a special school I was introduced to basket weaving. And I really enjoyed the hours I spent doing it.
I forgot all about it until recently when I was working as a support worker. And one of my clients started showing me the pottery she made at a day centre. The joy she had showing me all the items she made brought back memories for me of how much I enjoyed making the various basket types and bringing them home to show of.
I’ll let you know if I find any more good glass shops
I've never been to Norfolk. I went to a lovely glass shop down south once. I cannot remember where it was though.
There's some amazing little glass/stained glass shops around, usually hidden up in little arts and crafts places. I got a lovely little decorative stained glass bowl from the glass shop at Wroxham barns the other year. Such a great little place, lots of lovely little craft shops and a small farm too, I have to visit wroxham barns every time we go to Norfolk
Thank you
That sounds like how I would imagine traditional stained glass was done. The method I was shown is more for decorative pieces I think. It was extremely effective. I just think glass is fascinating. Something so easily broken, yet so adaptable. And it just looks amazing. I love glass that has been twisted into interesting shapes too. How I want to go to a glass shop right now.
Congratulations!
