I don’t understand why we’re not one world, one defence system. 1 for all, all for 1
you say this then you start calling people dumb, ok then.
your smart comment makes you more dumb.!
makes you more dumb
so tell me why you think i am dumb in the first place?
and explain why my comment was so smart when it was just something basic? and why did it make me more dumb?
well done for judging someone
your meant to be 40 years old but your calling people dumb on an forum made for people on the spectrum, whos really the dumb on?
act your age!
and yes it was aimed at you because you said....
Is it wrong that the news is crippling me with anxiety?
you say you cant stay away from it but yet you post a forum about it, why dont you use some of that old brain of yours and phone a helpline instead of bringing it here and causing your self triggers and other people triggers?
you cant do nothing about the war, so all you really have to do is distract yourself from it!
I think that's the worst, most naive take I've read on the situation.
A) No one has accepted that the Crimea is part of Russia, the annexation has not been internationally recognized.
B) Your comparison with the EU is entirely disanalogous. 'The western media' has no role in recognizing the 'donetsk people's republic', because the territorial integrity of Ukraine is a matter for the Ukraine alone.
C) Russia has had proxy military forces in Ukraine for years, the 'donetsk people's republic' is a creation of the Russian military.
D) Countries shouldn't get to decide to invade other countries in support of independence movements they favour. Would you support France invading the UK in support of Scottish independence?
E) The situation has nothing to do with immigration. Please provide evidence of any UK immigrant population agitating to form a breakaway state.
Please try to use an ounce of critical thinking.
yeah thats the media for you though, they will overblow things to spread fear and panic, because that sells stories and makes them rich.
but think on it... this has happened before when they took crimea by force, nothing came out of it and everyone accepted crimea is russian territory. this territory russia wants off ukraine now, it isnt all of ukraine, its but a tiny slither of it smaller than crimea and the only reason is because there are majority russian population living there and they all voted to rejoin russia, got ignored by ukraine and dictated to and then they decided to take up action to have their voices be heard, of which the western media refused to give them a voice and so we think ukraine was all roses and the good guys despite the fact they was persecuting the russian majority of a region who voted to break free.
its kinda like if the EU refused to let us leave with our brexit referendum, and wee protested about it, and they sent troops to gun us down to shut us up while the media turned a blind eye to it because the media support the EU.... then america comes to liberate and protect us then they get accused the same way russia is, that is the same opposite of what we see in ukraine. ukraine should have just respected the peoples will and got rid of them, it would have sorted their nations problems got rid of a rowdy demographic and avoided war and loss completely. also to avoid it in the future they need to stop allowing russian citisens to migrate and have citisenship and voting rights in their land. all of europe has this problem, we are naive and allow enemy nations to colonise over us with migration, take away our majority then you lost your voting power and rights to your own country, our own fault for the way we handle migration and allow ourselves to lose the majority of our own nations. ukraine will serve as a perfect example to us of the dangers of allowing replacement migration and how it results in handing your nation over to another nation freely.
This invasion is completely reckless and a creepy exertion of power. I'm seeing videos and tweets of civilians saying it's a political issue they're being caught in the middle of. Literally I thought this sort of affair was a thing of the past.
To me this looks like a dispute between neighbours and for some reason WE (I mean you and me as much as the west) who (metaphorically speaking) live several streets away on the other side of town, feel that we have to pick a side and give them weapons.
I think two good reasons to do so are:
1) A few years ago, the Russian state ordered the use of chemical weapons on British soil, which led to the murder of a British citizen, and several others being seriously injured. Mass causalities were avoided only by luck. Representatives of the Russian state then laughed about the situation on TV.
2) History has shown that dictators don't stop when one country has been subjugated. Regular foreign policy adventures of this kind are required to cover up their deficiencies and satisfy their grand ambitions. We might be next.
It's also worth pointing out that the last time Russia tried to turn Ukraine into a vassal state in the 1930s, a genocide occurred in which millions of Ukrainians were starved to death. This may explain why the Ukrainians aren't keen to allow the Russians another go.
So, let us cat lovers push back a bit then shall we?
It's time for a thread (which be warned, if I start it, it will be called "show us your ***"!) with some nice cat pictures and cat lore to provide a bit of distraction.
When I got overwhelmed on Sunday morning with the shrieking & blathering of the T.V. set I just changed channel and invited our large orange cat up onto the sofa for some "fuss". Half an hour of sitting with him. makes me feel somewhat "opiated" and uplifted...
Last October our lovely and characterful tuxedo cat died most abruptly and unexpectedly, and I discovered the true and visceral meaning of the words "Emotional support animal". Just having a cat in my life, seems to take an awful lot of the sharp edges off. After a bit of a search we were able to find two unwanted ten year old cats and have just spent much of the last three months helping them find their feet in their new home. They are both beautiful and characterful little creatures, and a welcome distraction from the rather dismaying "normie" world outside.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Mr Putin makes a "vassal state".
I've watched us doing it for a couple of decades, in many countries, and seen what the bright light of democracy brings to a country. It's interesting to have some contrast.

The same tools that were used to make most of us rush out and allow an untested MRNA compound to be injected into us whilst knowledge of any potential (or actual) alternative treatment was suppressed (at least until big pharma was able to make a patentable analogue of the compound) are now being used to present Mr Putins actions to us.
I did not trust them before, to tell me the whole story, and I don't trust them now.
With good reason. I learned from the past. When I see our leadership and media being held accountable for the lies they've fed us in the past, rather than being exalted and rewarded (Tony Blair are you reading this?) Then I might feel a bit more involved.
Currently my choices on Sunday morning were the shrill screaming of the MSM about the Ukraine situation, or the more balanced and full presention (with the usual instant fact checks and balances provided by the participating audience) on Alternative media.
Where we probably all DO agree, is that the Ukraininan civilians, right now, are past debating the rights and wrongs of their situation on the internet, thousands of them are abruptly moving house, without the benefit of prior planning, whist OUR REPRESENTATIVES frantically rush to arm one side of the fight.
Again.
Of one thing I am sure, this is not JUST Mr Putin's fault. If we really cared and were opposed to war, we would still protest against it. We are all a little bit culpable.
I don't really feel as much "white guilt" for slavery that was done hundreds of years ago, in a society where that sort of thing was held to be "acceptable", as I do when my country sells weapons to be used to kill foreign people in their own country for money so that we can have a better "standard of living" than the people who buy our weapons do.
FWIW, Mr Putin appears highly motivated to have his military kill as few people as possible, whilst achieving his objective.
I don't doubt it but his objective seems to be turning Ukraine into a vassal state under his defacto control.
It appears that both sides are already suing for peace, and Mr Putins demands seem fairly reasonable, so maybe this will be over quickly, with minimal loss of life.
In fairness when a man has a knife to your throat the fact he's only asking for your wallet is of little comfort. And after he's got your wallet he's just as likely to demand your watch or the shoes off your feet. Putin doesn't need to worry about asking everything he wants upfront because he's not asking at all.
It is wrong. It's also wrong that the civilians of the world are not out en mass protesting.

I've always been deeply interested in the truth, a commodity that is in increasingly short supply in our society on all levels these days.
IF you want to get scared of something, try finding out just how much of the whole story our media really gives us about anything! Find a few alternative information sources, use critical thinking skills because much of what you will read is junk, and do take regular breaks because some of it is dizzying stuff. Some of what I saw put forth as "science" during covid was frighteningly inept and not joined up thinking, and worse seriously dishonest, and a lot of people were taken in by simple misinformation.
What makes me so anxious is how very little real and timely information we plebs usually get when world events happen, and how unreliable it seems to be. (If it were not unreliable all those not so wacky conspiracy theories wouldn't keep emerging.
It's plain to see that we have little control over these events, so the safest bet for your metal health is to either look away and get on with your own life, or grab your favourite snack and watch the show avidly!
Hopefully it doesn't spill over into other countries. If he decides to go into any NATO country, we'll be looking at WW3.
Because ultimately that would lead to the worst form of autocracy. When a dictator rises in a country there are at least other free countries to run to, to support resistance. If all the world was one country and it was taken over by a dictator would the world ever be free again? Not with out a dreadful civil war that would probably leave the world divided into different countries anyway.
I’ve not done any reading of any sort since this morning. My phone knows I like news and I have seen pictures of weapons and civilian injuries. I’m avoiding this like the covid19. I have enough going on and it’s crippling. I have no diazepam left ffs and can’t ask for more until next month.
I have 1 friend,. He’s Hungarian. Oh my the fear in his voice at work is heartbreaking. His parents are in Hungary and he’s a very smart guy and his worry scars me.
I don’t understand why we’re not one world, one defence system. 1 for all, all for 1.. put all the resources together and make the world equal..
My son was concerned too before he went to school and when he realised what has happened today is worried about war
It is hard when you don't know, like it was when Covid arrived. It's difficult to help a naturally anxious child when we don't know what will happen.
Personally since Covid I have begun to try to switch off the unknown. In case something were to happen I try to find things to enjoy now.
I think a lot of people are feeling that way not just autistic people. For me I find it strangely fascinating. a bit like they say watching a car crash is. Like you just can't look away. I often wondered what I'd do if there was a world war. Would I want to fight, I've always had pacifist leanings when it comes to lethal action but I hate bullies. Would I try to find a way to serve my country? I don't know. It's seeming less hypothetical now though.
