Hi. I'm Stu. 46. Got my diagnosis just over a week ago. ASD Level 1 and suspected ADHD.
Feeling pretty resentful right now. Not had a fun life. My special interest is movies. My parents were very cruel about it. So was my brother. I don't want to talk about those people though.
Wife is very supportive. My head is everywhere. Just don't know how to feel.
So yeah. Here I am.
Hello Stu. Welcome to this place. You are very new to our "realisation" by the sounds of things. Buckle up brother! I cycled through a whole gamut of emotions, beliefs and behaviours in my early months.....all pretty confusing....but generally found myself much, much calmer about everything around me BECAUSE I finally understood my own behaviours and feelings.
I'm a MUCH happier man now that before I knew....but that didn't stop me feeling pretty discombobulated for a while. This is a good place to be.....in my opinion.
See you around on the pages.
Hi Stu and welcome!
Sorry you are feeling confused about things atm but try look at the positives. You have a very supportive partner and this is a new learning opportunity for you to discover who you are. My partner isn’t really all that supportive tbh and we have been together for 27 years, for me this would be my number one request (work in progress). For you having that someone at home in your safe space is a good starting point.
Good luck with everything and I hope it all begins to make sense for you.
Thank you
Hi
Thank you. That's good to hear
Thanks. How are you getting on with it all?
Thanks. Ghostbusters is one of my top ten favourite films! I'd heard that about Dan Aykroyd.
I love Star Wars, James Bond, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, stuff like that.
Hi Stu, and welcome
I didn't discover I was on the spectrum until I was in my early fifties. I've had some years to adjust, and things are better for me now.I 'm glad you have a supportive partner - that has helped me too. We are not always born into our "true" family, sometimes we find them later in life.
Movies are not an unusual interest - what are your favourites? I like sci-fi and comedy films best. One of my favourites is Ghostbusters - you may already know this, but Dan Ackroyd (who is on the spectrum) co-wrote it because his special interests were law enforcement and the supernatural.
I hope you find support from the forum.

Very glad you are here Stu. Good to hear your Wife is very supportive too (sometimes, I think our partners / spouses / sinificant friends and relatives can get all too overlooked along the journey of the diagnosis process, so a welcome to her as well).
Welcome aboard Stu and congratulations on your diagnosis.
Hi. I was diagnosed a few months ago myself.
Welcome! Here we are, all of us in our space! I hope you feel good here!
Welcome. I'm new here as well but already feeling at home in this community.
Welcome
