Our 10 year old son has recently been diagnosed with 'mild but not typical' autism. We're trying to work out what this means - a daily adventure! We'd like to find him a mentor who will help him on that journey and who will be a good role model and source of support. Does anyone know an organisation which provides them?
If you're looking for an experienced mentor, you should obviously look at some local services that offer such opportunities. If you have a desire to learn with a more experienced Tutor and you don't mind learning online, then you can find more opportunities. I'm sure you can find advantages in this regard that local tutors may not have. That's why I prefer to study with online tutors who have more experience and can teach you something new.
Third time for us - and the trickiest because of the need to find a school that will understand his ASD.

They are a complete nightmare, aren't they? Just had to go through that myself with my eldest
I'm really sorry but I haven't got round to checking out the suggestions - got distracted by secondary school applications!
Hi,
I'm looking for a mentor for my 15 year old nephew - can you tell me if you had any luck?
Thanks!!
Hi, I'm looking for a mentor for my 15 year old nephew - did you have any luck? Thanks!
I didn't know they did that - thanks, I'll try ours.
Maybe your local authority could provide a mentoring service? That's how I got a mentor.
No worries i hope that you're successful.
Thank you - will have a look at the second one. The 'over 12' thing rules out the NAS.
Thanks Matt, I'll check that out.
I did have Brandons Trust working with me about four years ago, that's like 1 to 1 support but I don't know whether that's just for young adults.

...NAS, right here, maybe...? (Some parts of the Pages say that the Child must 12 Years Old, however.)
https://www.autism.org.uk/services/community/befriending-mentoring.aspx
...and maybe this place, which also lists NAS:
