Just to be clear if I read the latest moderators note corectly they are saying all threads older than 3 years are going to be deleated. Not locked. Deleated.
I don't belive anyone asked for that inspite of what the note says about listening to feedback. I can only assume it has nothing to do with feedback and more to do with reducing load on the servers.
I think a lot of people probably missed this detail in the note so it was worth mentioning.
Some of the older posts can be as relevant now as they were when they were created however many years ago, so it would be sad if they were deleted.
However, what I would be in favour of is the accounts of spam bots being automatically closed when the moderators step in and remove the sneaky spam links from the forums.
I wouldnt want a thread to be deleted after 3 years. If they dont want people replying, I suppose they could lock them, but I like to reference old posts to find disscussions or info I saw earlier. If I wanted to remember a website someone sent me 3 years ago then I wouldnt be able to. Of course I havent even been active here for a year yet but just my thoughts for my future self
That's not a glitch. They made multipul copies of the same post. one for each sub forum
Does everyone get these multiple identical posts from the mods.?
no longer visable = no longer accesable in any form. in all probability deleated or effectivly deleated.
I'm not clear about this three year rule. Does the three years refer to when the thread started or when it was last replied to?
Thank you though Rosie Mod for listening and for the new improved forum being designed for us.
I think the idea might have been gleaned from this thread (link below).
I'm personally happy to read old (er than 3 years) threads and I wouldn't want them locked either because then they could never be found again ie brought back up to the fore.
Information being out of date isn't always applicable or the most important aspect of a discussion.

Rosie's point:
Additionally, we have listened to your helpful feedback and as part of the upgrades, online community accounts and threads that are older than three years will no longer be visible. This will ensure that all threads are current and reduce inaccurate information being available to users.
