So, this woman, from the West Midlands, claims she is facing bankruptcy after losing £113,000 to a scammer she met on a dating site. The man, who claimed he lived nearby, told her he had gone abroad for an engineering contract in Ukraine and then convinced her he needed money.
The internet is a scammers paradise, you don't even need to meet the person in person, you can send images instantly, ask for money transfers etc. All from the comfort of your office, bedroom?
I'm sorry to hear that. What the world is coming to...
Had a new phone put in once that must of been used before just got at least 2 phone calls a day from scammers ,loads of chat then just wanted bank details .used to wind them up just saying odd numbers ,asking which numbers ,etc . used to put curses on them sometimes really freaked them out . They target people they think are old or gullible .
Dave - please do not drag my name into your delusion.
The police used a scam website to ruin my life as Plastic knows. They used it as though it was genuine with true information!!!
Even the UK police are doing scams
Unfortunately, it's true, there are many scammers on dating sites. I haven't tried many of them, but I use the silversingles dating app. All people I met there were not scammers (you can also check the silversingles review), maybe I'm just lucky. Anyway, I agree that the first and the most important rule is not to give money to anyone you meet online, even if you started considering him/her to be a friend.
Some people are so desperate for a connection even if they know it's fake just the fantasy is enough to get them by.
Get the Darwin Awards out.
I teach you something new every day.
I've just found out what this means! It sounded like buttybox (which would only make sense if you're from the north). Betabux refers to beta males who give financial favours to women in an attempt to earn their romantic or sexual interest.
No, I've never heard of this.
I'll send you everything straight away!
And what exactly were you trying to procure on that website? We know it wasn't a Thai bride......
The Police used a similar impossible scam site to prosecute me, when it was obviously a scam fake site.
Believe they would make it out to be genuine???
they are very good at what they do ---- u have to be ruthless or very far away which helps
Are you aware of the whole financial domination industry? Lots of 'naughty' people willing to be scammed out of their cash? It's big - and is a growth industry for enterprising young girls - especially if it's paying for their college funds...or underwear collection
It's what dating sites are made for.......
Yes I can - just give me all your bank details, NI number, home address and your mother's maiden name and I'll look down the back of my sofa.....
Plastic, I'm a Prince, and I have a £2,000,000 fortune... however, I just need £500 British pounds to unlock this.... can you help?

I love this!
I've worked in financial services, it goes way further than that. They can trick you into thinking they know your details by giving you eg. your sort code - easy to guess if they know who you bank with.
Even really smart people can fall for this stuff and it is heartbreaking when it happens to vulnerable people.
