I was wondering if we have superpowers that 'normal people' don't have. This is not a serious and philosophical post, just a bit light hearted.
I reckon mine is that I see through people, not physically, but I always see the true nature of people. I can't count the number of times people have said to me 'I really like Sally/ Jane/ Mike/ Bob, they're a really nice person.' But I don't generally see the nice side of them, I always see their worst traits. They can't fool me.
Of course sometimes Sally/ Jane/ Mike/ Bob does turn out to be a really nice person, so I see their best traits.
People can't fool me with their surface appearance of being nice, I only see their genuine niceness. This sense is disconcerting but I've decided it's very helpful to me in life.
I've also just thought that my 'early warning system' is a superpower. I can spot a potential problem and find a solution before anyone else has even perceived a problem. Annoying but useful.
EDIT 1: I just remembered another. I can chill a room instantly. Many times someone has said something to upset or anger me, 'something' happens to me(a bit like a minor shockwave) and I notice the room go cold. Everyone else notices too and stares at me. I can't control this, it just happens when I'm angry or shocked. The temperature drops and everyone pauses for a moment. It's a bit of an 'Elsa from Frozen' type of power. I should learn to control it.
EDIT 2: Also remembered a weird thing. When I'm typing, which I always am, often I type a word e.g. elephant, someone on TV says the same word at exactly the same time. My writing is nothing to do with what is on TV. This happens so much, it's strange. Not really a superpower but noticeable.
Does anyone else think they have superpowers and what are they?
The same. I'm never remembered, never spoken to or noticed. Often in groups when I speak, everyone jumps as if the wall suddenly spoke. Not exactly flattering.
I am more or less a sat nav anyway, I have maps in my head and I'm very good at finding my way. I should hone it better tbh.
I would like to be able to control the weather. That would be a good one. I'd say invisibility but I'm more or less invisible anyway- no one ever remembers me or my name or what I've done.
Yes, these aren't superpowers like flying, telekinesis etc. Just things we do and understand differently from the general population.
Just different names for the same things I guess. I like to think I have superpowers.
Oh I expect so, I can never control my face.
People are always recommending others to me but they never turn out to be as nice as advertised. Rarely anyway.
Sort of - the destroyer of hamburgers and steak.
Drax the destroyer
Cool - Me too - I find if I go into a social situation and sit quietly, I fade out completely. Nobody will notice me and I can move about in full stealth mode.
I’ve nearly mastered invisibility
I would definitely need sat nav and would still get completely disoriented and lost. I had always wanted telekinesis, catch something across the room before it falls, open a door whe my hands are full. Pretty lame use to be honest. I would love to teleport, though I would worry I would accidentally teleport myself places.
I reckon mine is that I see through people, not physically, but I always see the true nature of people.
Some time ago, I was told by a psychologist that I have an increased intuative capacity; it sounds like you, KikiCat, also have this.
I don't know about 'superpower', but it's certainly an advantage when dealing with others. I've learned to trust my gut feelings.
Ben
I have super speed, super strength, flight and telekinesis . An odd one that I have too is that I can reverse time, but just around crusty old pizza so that I can eat them again after they go bad . I am joking obviously
I dreamed that I was able to fly, though not like Superman. And I never took illicit drugs to make me feel that way. I'm out there naturally. (Pixies were like that, too)
cool someone else can do that ,i can control the blood flow around my body ,i started doing it when i used to faint nearly every day at school. last time i was in hospital having a gastroscopy, they had me hooked up to a heart monitor , i freaked them out made my heart rate down to 15 a minute and my blood pressure crash.
I have a recurring dream that i can fly ,i lean back and sort of levitate then zoom around just above the ground ,it is always real fun happy dream. superpower when i am asleep.
Yes, I have that too - I call it my 'x-ray vision', ha. It scares people, which is why I have few friends. I don't go out (have stopped going out pre-Covid as well), because if I have some drinks and someone annoys me, I can't help but make piss-takey jokes, which makes people livid... it's impossible to fool me. My relationships with men (I'm a straight woman) usually don't work out either, because I see through bullshit, which hurts their egos lol
what do you race in - cycling ?
Yes, and then contacts the rest of the time which means I have to do a couple of extra spins in the telephonebox.
About seeing through others.
I'm exhausted and burned out. A drive to visit a friend, after the viewing, ended up taking quite a bit from me.
I can sometimes go into a trance-like state and hyperfocus so I can get loads of work/creative stuff done all in one go and I get a huge buzz out of it. That's fun.
Also... I can use my anxious and obsessive personality to my advantage. I get HORRIBLE nerves before any kind of race and can't think about anything else but then I have such a huge amount of adrenaline that I tend to do quite well. :)
