Hi All, it's nice to be here. I'm Katie and I'm 22. On Tuesday 7th January I had a unofficial diagnosis of Autism. I took the AQ10 test and scored 9/10. I am now being referred to Integrated Autism Services for an official diagnosis. Due to scoring 9/10 I prepared for being officially diagnosed with Autism. If I scored lower then I wouldn't be so convinced. The waiting list is 3 months so it's going to be a long journey. I've signed myself up on this chat so that I can receive advice and support from other adults with Autism pre or post diagnosis. I would also like to let you know that you are welcome to join my Facebook group A Little Piece of Autism.
Best wishes

Hi Katie,
I am 21 with ASD.
Good luck with the diagnosis! I know how stressful it is waiting and just wanting to know. A facebook group is a great idea. If you need any support with the diagnosis please don't hesitate to message me : )
That great you don't have to wait that long, but any wait will be stressful, as you will probably keep questioning whether you are wasting your time (at least I did, as my initial diagnosis was quite a shock)
Thank you, Laura. Welcome to our Facebook group, thanks for joining. Yes I'm hoping it will just take 3 short months. It's hard to accept but luckily I'm hugely involved with a local Autism group and a local NAS branch so I don't feel alone at all.
Hi Katie!
I'm 20 years old and I was diagnosed on 2nd January. Thankfully, my wait wasn't too long at all; I got a diagnosis in just over 3 months from when I self referred to the service in my local area.
I've known about my autism for a few years but it's only been official for little over a week so I'm still getting my head around it properly but it's really nice to know that I'm not alone in this.
The support network seems to be huge on places like this
Thanks
Thank you. Yes, I am hoping it isn't that long.
Please feel free to join A Little Piece of Autism group on Facebook. Make sure it's the group and not the Like Page. :)
Hi, Katie :) Welcome to the group. I'm 25 and have been on the waiting list for over a year now (hopefully the wait times are better in your area!).
Thank you for your reply. I'm hoping it won't take that long. My friend's diagnosis took 9 months and I will be attending the same IAS as her so hopefully no longer than 9 months.
Took me a year from referral to diagnosis(last June)
