We are Neurodiverse Self Advocacy !

We are autistic adults who came together to form a charity and build a self-advocacy and peer to peer support network dedicated to empowering autistic adults, harnessing our talents and knowledge to develop new supportive services to overcome our barriers and achieve equality in employment, relationship, and wellbeing..

We want to transform the attitude to autism in society and develop a supportive community with services that are relevant and helpful to us.

 Our mission is:

  • The support and enablement of Neuro Diverse People to lead healthy and fulfilling lives, achieve their life goals and realise their potential in order to achieve equality and fully contribute to society.

  • By Neuro Diverse People we mean people on the autistic spectrum, who may also have ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, OCD, Bipolar etc…

  • Is this breaking the rules? Asking members to join another site, one that requires signing a constitution, sharing risks and costs.
    Define risks.
It doesn't sound a very healthy proposition and sounds like it is breaking the rules of this forum.

You are asking members to put themselves at whatever risks and to use their money to put themselves at risk.

Wrong on every level, no matter how much do-good your intentions are.

EDIT:  Correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT: the post had said risks and costs. I interpreted that to be money, having read posts again, it might not have been money, it could have been other costs.  Therefore I do no know what was meant by 'costs' and it might not have been money.

  • The Community Rules are here: https://community.autism.org.uk/p/rules.

I think Rule 7 is maybe the one that NAS51498 is referring to.  Currently this thread doesn't appear to be breaking rule 7 but the Moderators will be checking future posts.

    Regards,

    Kerri-Mod

  • There should be some stipulation though on how long or how many times you post before you have to chose a username, otherwise this leaves the site wide open to trolling, also take more ID  information than just an e-mail as anybody could create a different e-mail and identity and then troll the site, at least then you know we are all who we say we are, NAS are leaving some really vulnerable people open to exploitation and it's wrong...

I for one know enough to be able to protect myself but I know for a fact there are people on here who are vulnerable, some seem like they really have it together and are very computer savvy, which I am not but in other ways they are incredibly vulnerable and I feel NAS are just not doing enough to protect them.

  • I have seen people do this in other forums where I work and its fine. Feel free to express yourself how you wish and please feel relaxed about posting here.  Funny thing is I have talked and helped another person who called themselves  Justanothernobody ( in 7cups,com ) and by the end he had chosen a much better name.

U're not a nobody. I believe everyone has value and your contributions are valuable. We need someone to speak up for all the nobodies :)
