We are Neurodiverse Self Advocacy !
We are autistic adults who came together to form a charity and build a self-advocacy and peer to peer support network dedicated to empowering autistic adults, harnessing our talents and knowledge to develop new supportive services to overcome our barriers and achieve equality in employment, relationship, and wellbeing..
We want to transform the attitude to autism in society and develop a supportive community with services that are relevant and helpful to us.
Our mission is:
I (and, I suspect, many people here) do not have Slack installed, do not have a Slack account and/or do not wish to risk work related Slack usage and ASD related Slack usage becoming entangled.
I hope your community finds happiness and success together but I will not be joining you on Slack.
By all means feel free to post on here what you'd like to see from a neurodiverse self advocacy group :)
There are only 13 people in this group to date and it may be a duplication of this forum??
I have joined but don't understand the real reason for setting up this new group as the mission statement is covered by this forum.
Can you tell me what this SLACK group can do that is not possible in this forum?
Hi DaveAsperg, the Slack group is a discussion on what to include on the new website / forum which is currently under development. We want to make sure the website we are creating has the best content. If you have ideas for what you would like to see on such a website then we are open to all suggestions.
If you are married or have a job or any other commitments think very carefully before signing anything...
Your time belongs to Slack! and your relationships may not survive!
Just for clarity, Bookworm, you are not and never were part of the Slack group, nor did you take on my invitation and join now, so just to be clear. You are still welcome, but you will have to sign the constitution and share the risks and .. costs.
You must be joking I have seen how you operate and you can't even look after your own members well being because you are to busy with your head shoved up your own backside and full of your own self importance.
Again I strongly suggest you do not respond or we will just keep bumping this to the top, Your choice but people can see you for the uncaring bossy dictator you actually are!
Nope, you are a truly lovely person, make sure you take care. xx
What a curious thread.
'Curious?' i sense you thinking "Whats curious about this thread, it happens all the time, people come along try to start some sort group and then are promptly shut down by .................. Oh i see....."
Yes very strange that this forums very own arbiter of moral capacity (no not the mods, they barely have capacity....) hasn't come along and started throwing around the usual aspersions. Over the years i've been here i've witnessed this happen EVERY time a well intentioned member attempts to create some sort cohesive group to promote dialogue about our welfare.
And bizarrely the very thing that this - lets stick with the 'Arbiter' moniker - person often rails against FALSELY (He gaslights you all) has actually popped up in reality within just a few posts, namely;
"you will have to sign the constitution and share the risks and .. costs."
But strangely............ Tumbleweed. How curious.
Let me guess, after destroying anyone elses attempts at creating a discourse amongst the community you now expect a free pass to set yourselves up with something that will create revenue for you? You are obfuscating scrutiny, attempting to coerce potentially vulnerable people into signing contracts with financial implications and that's OK because its 'your' group doing it, and you're not like the other ne'er do wells who have tried to create FREE groups with NO OBLIGATIONS in the past.
True you are not. They never asked for money or tried to get people to sign contracts. They knew what they were doing and worked hard built sites and THEN invited you.
I will fight you.
Oh btw NSA? WTF, think again. S*** name
PS I'm not the aspiedating guy or whatever it was, i just F****** HATE HYPOCRITES

Is this breaking the rules? Asking members to join another site, one that requires signing a constitution, sharing risks and costs. Define risks. It doesn't sound a very healthy proposition and sounds like it is breaking the rules of this forum.
You are asking members to put themselves at whatever risks and to use their money to put themselves at risk.
Wrong on every level, no matter how much do-good your intentions are.
EDIT: Correct me if I am wrong.
EDIT: the post had said risks and costs. I interpreted that to be money, having read posts again, it might not have been money, it could have been other costs. Therefore I do no know what was meant by 'costs' and it might not have been money.
