Blip

I think i'm have a small relapse. I self harmed last night and haven't done for 3 or 4 months. But this time i did it where no one could see.

It's not just that. I feel stressed out all the time. I keep getting migraines, and can't cope with myself or my pets. Luckily Dad is helping me with pets so they are fine but i am struggling to be motivated to clean myself, get up, go to bed, go out, do anything really even eating.

I'm getting really affected by things. One of my bunnies was put to sleep last week and it's really getting to me. Noises are killing me inside. Even small chattering but especially those stupid bikes and shouting.

At my support group yesterday a few people were having a discussion about what benefits they get and what support. They sit there saying they have no support then talk about psychiatrists. More than i've ever had.

I suppose these all seem trivial things to other people but to me i feel like i am going crazy and fading away from the person i was.

Generally struggling. :(

  • Hi AnneMargaret. Did you manage to get some help from the GP today. Hope so.

Yes i'm 24. I live with my parents. I've told Mum about harming again. I see my GP Thursday. Tomorrow i have a support group that MIND run so i could talk to staff there if i felt able to although it's actually a social group.

Yes i could try and take time out but not sure how to do that?

Last year i lost 6 people close to me and in the last 12 years i've averaged losing one to two a year. It's tough.

What's an autism team? I am waiting to see social worker to see if i can get a budget to use for finding support networks or something.

Thank you for replying both of you.

your welcome, thats what we are all here for isn't it :-)

It's no wonder you feel this way if you have lost so many people close you to in a short time like that

You really need to tell the gp and support staff how you feel and how it's affecting you, and a grief counsellor might be of help as you are going through that just now

When you say you don't know how to take time out, is that because you have a busy schedule? or because you are not sure how to go about it?

If you have a busy schedule, you just have to work around it, however small a time you have, even if its a wee 15 min break, just do whatever calms and relaxes you till the break is over, or till you feel ok

If you dont know how to go about it, basically I'd say start with your intrests,

My partner uses computer games or music/vids to relax, so he has something that he can access with him all the time, a phone is the most used as its easy to carry and it has both nowadays

You can't take on everything at once tho so don't try to, but you can take them bits at a time, and just try to keep going

  • My son doesn't have a social worker , but has been assessed for suport like you b a team of peopl with a specialist knowledge of Autism. They run a social group and when I was really worried , I phoned them and they were able to find a psychologst who would see hime without a referall.

If you know who your council is , try searching autism on their website.

Try and tell the GP as much as you can . It sounds like life has been very hard for you . THey might be able to help you with medication to help you through this Blip.

I'm impressed you called the discussion 'BLip' I hope that means you know you can get through it and things will feel better in due course.

  • Sorry to hear you are finding it hard. Have you talked to anyone about harming recently. I feel bad when my son self harms and doesn't tell me because I can't help him if I don't know how much he's hurting. Sometimes he finds it hard to start the conversation - sometimes he'll email ot text even if I am in the next room as it opens up the conversation.

Can you self refer yourself anywhere? We have ' Talking therapies that anyne can access a counsellor through. Not as good as a psychologist , but easier and quicker to get to see.

Are you an adult? Does your council have an Autism Team? OUrs is really helpful. Whereabouts do you live.

Can you use an Ipod or something with headphones to block out the noisy summer holiday noises? My son likes to listen to audio books he gets from the libraby as it distracts him from his worries

Finally my son harms less when he schedules some plans  - even little things like a 15 minute walk. Try taking little steps to looking after yourself  and hopefully things will get better

I'm really sorry to hear about your bunny, and I'm sorry you are having a hard time just now, but if you cant cope you have to find a way to change either the situation or how you are affected and coping

You know self harming doesn't help your situation, it might help you feel a release, but that is usually temporary, so it's not very helpful

You need to first find someone proffessional , therapist etc

It's horrible losing a pet, but i read from your other post she was a rescue bunny, thats brilliant, you took her in and she had a good life because of you, we all die but if you took her in when she had no one else , you made her life better when she was alive thats what counts Smile

Howyou feel, and losing a friend, isnt trivial, is there no way you can have some 'time out' and just find a way to relax, and to grieve for your wee friend?

you need that time, otherwise it will just build up and come out, kinda like when you hurt youself
