Instagram, snapchat, twitter, fb

Hi.

I was briefly on Fb and twitter and found it intensely boring.  I found I had very little to post on there and few friends, followers etc.

Is anyone on these things and enjoy?

Perhaps I am doing it wrong?

  • Well said. I’m all for the ‘agree to disagree’ approach  - with is antithetical to Twitter!

  • Yeh and its always people trying to force each other into their opinions, I hate that. Im very much live and let live

  • I agree with you. Twitter is mainly just people arguing with each other.

  • I find Twitter very destructive and damaging to mental health. It is a forum for bullies and those who wish to attack others for having different opinions to them. Facebook has a few good points but not much

Instagram is the only one I use regularly and thats purely because I can control what I see on it. I have filled it with animal videos, comedy clips, my favourite singers and sports teams and nothing else so that it can be a bit more of a happy place

  • This community is so much friendlier and more welcoming than most online things. Obviously autistic people are really great at being sociable - who knew?! Blush

  • I quite like Instagram because I’m very interested in visual art and imagery. I used to go on Twitter a lot but not so much now as I find it’s full of people arguing and moaning about things all the time. Instagram is more positive.

  • I love Instagram.. It is my daily dose of belly laughs!

I also follow a lot of neurodoverse/therapy/mindfulness accounts.. But it's the belly laughs that keep me there!

  • For me, Instagram is both work and communication. I am there all the time. I read different bloggers, psychologists, I learned a lot of new and useful things for myself. True, it also happens that pages are blocked. I was blocked once, it's good that I heard about it before and contacted the specialists [edited by moderator]  they quickly helped to solve this problem. I just can't live without Instagram. I will be glad if the information is useful to you.

  • [edited by moderator] Household Sound Effects</a> This is familiar to me, but to other people it is very strange. Yet everyone has strange habits and I am no exception.

  • No, very much the state of social media long before lock down.

They should rename if Vanity Media.

  • Post lock down life I guess new normal and all don't think anyones winning the cool prize for a social life at the moment. Unless your a celebrity and van buy your way your way out of the country and afford to quantine.

  • I was briefly on Fb and twitter and found it intensely boring.  I found I had very little to post on there and few friends, followers etc.

It destroys me for many reasons which I'll not share as it'll turn into a RANTITY. The main is it proliferates my loneliness despite me knowing it's all everyone's best airbrushed images. I don't enjoy false and fake.....

  • Where to start I hate them all the worst one of the lot being Quora and Redit then Twitter then Facebook. People ask the dumbest questions on Reddit people post there thoughts on twitter rather than what they'd actually say in real life and Quora well it's just full  of stupid people who think there intelagent when there not its like my idea of hell. I Just use messanger don't bother with the news feed side as it's just people moaning ranting or bitching or bosting.

  • nope, don't find them interesting at all and they cause a lot of problems in the world today.

on topic, how about this funny comment on one of the more famous "Tech Bros"

  • None of these apps actually show really anything postive, just people bragging about their lives and arguing constantly for attention. I don't things it's mentally good for you to spend much time on these apps as they can slowly demolish your comfidence and gradually transform you into someone your not - just a life you wish to live but has no existance. I think a lot of the things posted on these apps are fake news and it can seem quite sad when people are constantly posting about themselfs.

  • I actually hate those sorts of apps, I don't understand how people can spend so much time on them. I used to be into a few games and would play them for hours, but now I just hate stuff like that, I prefer doing something useful. And I wouldn't recoment any social media because you can barely trust anyone and it's such a huge responsabuility for yourself and can get very overwealming too. It is very normal to not be interested in this kind of stuff as well as loving it too.

  • I didn't see the meaning of an Instagram account before either, still since I'm the mother of a child with autism. I've started to be more active on Social Media to raise awareness among other people and understand what my child is most often facing. I also post various games and activities for mothers who have children with this disability. Now everyone is on Social Media, and it would be a shame not to take this opportunity to make our voices heard. Now I work on my profile, how bio looks, how my captions are written, and I use a line break tool on [Removed by Mod] does to make my text more readable.

  • I do have an instagram account.  No one else knows i have the account so i feel like a stalker when i go on there.  Very occasionally i'll get linked to something on there that i want to see.

  • I'm never on Facebook anymore really. I only really share memories on there,

I do use Twitter, again i haven't used it in a while,

I use Instagram alot. I'm on there almost every day.

Snapchat is very confusing, I don't use that at all.

  • so far i haven't been dumb enough to put my banking, or indeed any private information access on my phone
