So this is a place to share the good things that happen in our lives. They don't have to be huge even little tiny good things are good.
The darkness sounds relaxing, but I don't like using public toilets as lots of other people use them and they look a mess lol.
We have a separate toilet that has an automatic light, if you sit still it goes out quite quickly,,,,,just a suggestion if using the second one!
So sudden darkness and minimal back ground noise,,quite relaxing and a chance to just regather oneself before going back into the arena of life.
I could say to @Possibly Austistic that going deep into my own head is dark and peaceful but although it is sometimes in a dark area it certainly isn’t quite! Total opposite in fact,,,it never stops and at this time far to much flicking of switches as I struggle to just keep going.
Hi Graham, any clues as to how to restore a memory that has never worked as in short term memory recall?
Part of my dyslexia and by far my biggest hurdle throughout life. Often ridiculed and used against me to make me feel small and stupid.
I am so glad and happy you have been able to regain yours and find peace once again, I have certain memories that just keep coming back, during the day mostly, memories that seem to have no purpose at all, just random dejarvu moments,,,,none of which are bad or good memories, just random unimportant things or events,,,,
Hello Lonewarrior, My short term memory loss has only been for about 6 months now. When I awake the dreams of the night still fill my mind and I have little use of short term memory. This did last until early afternoon but now clears before noon. This is called hypnopompia. My Father - who has Parkinsons - suffers from hypnogogia which gives him visions in the period just before sleep. My avatar is an example of an hypnogogic vision by the synaesthete and artist Carol Steen. As my Grandfather also had Parkinsons I wonder if my current difficulties are an early sign of what’s in store for me.
A good friend of mine suffered a stroke, which gave him trouble with his short term memory. He’s adamant that turmeric tablets helped him overcome this. I wouldn’t like to say that this is definitely true as I’m not qualified to do so.
I know that the usual strategies to help improve memory -regular meals, sleep, socialising - are more problematic for those of us on the spectrum. Scientists say that chewing gum while learning helps improve memory function, but they don’t know why. Learning a musical instrument can also help improve memory function. I think the best - and cheapest - way is to sing. Singing releases endorphins and helps improve mood. There should be a number of videos on youtube that teach you singing techniques.
All the best. Graham.
I managed to replace a lamp shade and bulb which looks prettier than the last. Every time I switch on the light I am prompted to remember this uplifting achievement.
We had a semi successful day at school for sports day. My little man finished two races, he had a bit of melt down after the second one but I am very proud of him. Proud of my baby :-)
I use the toilet at my work for this too, though it’s not dark and I barely breathe if someone comes in. It’s amazing how relaxing a place they can be though, as long as no ones done something god awful in there beforehand!
Do you work in a school? Me too!
That's brilliant. And it's great to have a proud daddy/mummy in here.
What races did he do?
Thank you, I'm his proud mummy :-) but Daddy did get some pics & video. He would only try the running one. It was loud and he is in year 1 so it was a lot for him. He did great.
