Ruling the World

What would you do if you suddenly became empress/or of everything? Obviously we'd all stop wars, end world hunger etc etc, but what more personal things would you do?

I'd make us able to walk a mile in another persons shoes, so we'd get to know what it felt like to be NT and of course they would feel ours.

There are more personal things I'd like to be rid of like all members of the turnip family, BBQ's and people stating the bleeding obvious as though it's some sort of massive revelation.

I'd make shoe and clothing manufacturers make clothes and shoes in a wider range of sizes, shapes, colours and styles AND MOST IMPORTANTLY keep seeling jumpers althrough winter, and not just xmas jumpers, I want normal jumpers!

I'd make the internet work properly, like it used to, when you could search for something and actually get results matching your search criteria and not give you air fryers when you want wellingtons, stuff like that.

  • Yes, In the sponsered ads when I do a search and then go to a sight, I was also offered knickers instead of wellingtons. I often offered things that are so far out of my search criteria, I wonder what planet they're on. Even when looking for books, in my you might like this because you previously read... on kindle I get offered horror, romantic fiction and celebrity biographies, I never read those.

  • air fryers when you want wellingtons

did that actually happen to you once?.. just wondering (:

  • An artist friend of mine once drew me as a girl with an arrow to my chest saying 'constantly wears a push up bra because she wants the world to be aware that she has breasts at all times.' She was probaby right. I've come to discover about myself I do like atention and showing off.

  • Depends on the power of your phone to 'fit' the clothing to your body and stitch the image data of you together with out the power of an outside computer. At a minimum it might make generating an image of you in the clothing a slower process.

  • I absolutely believe that traditional forms of parental discipline especially corporal punishment actively prevented me from having meltdowns and “temper” and in fact, when I was growing up, I was not slapped hard enough and often enough in childhood, which resulted in and led to other unrelated problems later on, as I was born in an awkward age in the 1970’s, so I’m a strong advocate in favour of corporal punishment for misbehaving children, which given my 30 years in supermarket retailing, I’ve seen what social problems have resulted from the failures to implement this vital form of ultra strict military style parental discipline and the failures to implement this has caused immense social harm to every aspect of our modern society, things that I’ve come to really realise and understand in later years

  • I mean for starters I do shop online sometimes. But I am and always have been a city boy. I go down the street and just counting the lingrie stores you have victoria secret, ann summers and honey birdette. Plus the mini alternative shops. Type club wear into amazon. You won't see any options for men. but lots of city shops carry those bright flimsy dresses you'll see girls hoping from club to club in on a saterday night. No offence I'm sure Llanduddno is a lovely place but it isn't really a city. Try wandering down to liverpool sometime and poping into the trendy fashion shops.

Tbh I'd love to make my own stuff but it's far too expensive and time consuming. In fact it's the worst of both worlds. In terms of buying fabric and equipment (principally a sewing machine) it would cost more than having things custom made (based on how much cosplay has cost me in the past) But take far far longer than buying off the peg.

I used to have a friend who made fancy party dresses for female friends as a side hussel. I remember going to a party and she turned up in it but she had it adjusted to make it looser and cover more skin. He went up to her and they had a masive row about her ruinening his hard work. Really making that sort of thing is a labour of love not a buissness and I don't love my own body enough to sink the huge amount of money and time it would take into it. If it were avalable off the peg it might be diferent.

  • Maybe it's diferent where you live/shop, but here there's very few clothes shops and all but a couple seem to sell the same boring old "actileisure wear", trainer's, hoodies or black office wear. There dosen't seem to be any variety in colours or cuts regardless of where you go, it's all xmas jumpers and sparkly party wear now.

I don't think lingerie for women exists round here and even when venturing into Llanduddno, the near large shopping town, it's M&S and not a lot else, if they haven't got your size or the colour you want you get told to look online. Next told me they only use their stores for a very limited range and more as a showroom than as a shop, as everything's online. I told them they shouldn't be surprised to lose their jobs if that was thier attitude.

If you want anything different then I think you have to go to shops that specialise in Goth or hippy clothing.

You could always get a sewing machine and learn to make your own stuff, although you might find the range of fabrics and colours just as limited.

  • I take a look at what's sold in the shops and I respectfully disagree. Women have more colours and a lot more cuts and styles in their clothing. For men its all earth tones and beiges. The hoody, t shirt, shirt and sweatshirt are all basicly the same outline. Where is the male equivalent of a tube top or plunging neckline dress? The fact that lingrie for men doesn't really exist outside of sex shops is evedence enough.

  • Well then you might be disappointed to learn that the person who had to carry out the decreed of the law, Albert Pierrepoint, who executed 600 or 700 people, was known to say at the end, that he was sure not one ever execution ever made the slightest difference. In other words, it was all futile.

You appear to be fortunate in that you don't ever have meltdowns. Do you believe that corporal punishment cured you of that?

  • No - standards of expected conduct must be maintained and excuses cannot ever be accepted in any circumstances - no exceptions - those who fail to uphold proper standards of conduct must be punished most severely - ultimately this is about upholding traditional moral values that society must be returned to, kicking and screaming - the most beautiful places on earth are kept that way because of the strict laws that are enforcing those standards - when I was young, you behaved yourself and if you did not behave yourself you were severely punished without exceptions nor excuses and life was far more pleasant for everyone else as a consequence - during my 30 years in supermarket retailing, I’ve witnessed how when standards were allowed to slip, chaos ensued  and over time as this trend continued in society in general, life became very unpleasant - this is the rotten fruits of leftist ideologies that have destroyed our society in so many ways - call me “far-right” (actually there is no such thing) but I’m not really bothered as I see it as a good thing - I’ve always believed that it was a big mistake to abolish capital punishment and corporal punishment, that has led to many of these situations

  • What if someone in authority decides that you are the one who is badly behaved and need to be severely punished because stress got the better of you in an overwhelming situation?

Having said that, no one ever said it's OK just to dump litter and vandalise places, nor to drink in public places and treat the street as a latrine, which happens here, or to indulge in gratuitous violence because you don't like the way another person is dressed.

  • Not sure about making making education compulsory. School can be horrible but not having access to education may well be worse, but not learning academic schools starting with the 3 R's especially, are life skills too that most people can't do without. Just ask Afghan girls, who once again, who once again are not allowed to go to school. Life skills were more incorporated into the school curriculum than they are now, such as cooking, needlework and woodwork, except that when I was still there, there was a rule from 1840 that stipulated, girls had to do cookery and needlework, and boys, woodwork, which I hated. That got abolished though by the time my brother started.

And I wouldn't cut off diplomatic ties with the EU. I live in the EU and now have dual citizenship, but I would have lost so many rights otherwise. I would still like the opportunity to move to another country in Europe if things go totally pear shaped here economically, or if I decide sea air (warm, sunny sea air, might be healthier for me. As it is, bit will be far more difficult to have my husband join me now.

  • He realised that the stakes in being warlike when nukes are involved are too great.

  • The down side is it would have involved standing naked in a room while your frind walked around you taking video of you with a mobile app.

Just borrow one of the airport scanners and no need to disrobe - not exactly a cheap option but the tech is mainstream now.

In theory the naked image of the person does not need to be seen by anyone if the app can reliably work from it - many blushes would be saved.

  • I think boys can be a flashy with thier clothes as girls now, or at least many of the ones I see are, but then maybe thats more to do with the sort of people I mix with? In the 1700's when chemical dyes were first being developed and used, pink was seen as a colour only suitable for men as it was to strong a colour for delicate female complections!

I must admit that your idea of what would make a good night out aren't the same as mine, I don't want to sit about doing jigsaws in a church hall either.

  • I had this idea for an algorithem that would custom tayor a template outfit to fit a persons body so people could order online based on a cgi image of them in the outfit and the website would auto generate the paterns. cut them and mark the seams on an automated system then spit the peices out to a sewing team. Mass production of custom clothing. The down side is it would have involved standing naked in a room while your frind walked around you taking video of you with a mobile app. It would have also have involved uploading a 3d image of your naked body to the website for the the algorithem to refrence.

  • I'd make everything have soft or rounded edges and corners, I keep getting my clothes caught on square ones

  • Boys lack the eccentricity of old. Mums get paranoid about people 'Talking about Ye!'

  • 1. If I ruled the world I'd require autism charaties that run events to run events for people like me with out learning disabilities or crippling anxiaty but who have non existant social lives and want to have a good time. No more trips to cafes and shoping centers. Instead clubing, burlesque nights, laser tagging, maid cafes, cosplay events. Bring back mixers and speed dating that a lot of these orgonisations for autistic adults started with. Run a weird science nights. Fun exciting things

    2. every club / orgonised social group would have to have an autism inclusion polocy that basicly states they can't exclude autistic people just for being weird or making people uncomfortable. A polocy that explicity says that the autistic persons intent matters regardless of who's feelings were hurt.

    3. we'd have comisioned social reserch into the obsticals autistic people face in their romantic / sex lives with a mandate to look at interventions to over come them.

    4. boys would get fantastic showy pecock like clothing just like the girls.

    5. the gender double standard would disapear and 'boy power' and boys being overtly sexual would be just as aceptable as 'girl power.'

    6. ageism would be banned. Young people get cheep car insurance and old people get to go on 18-30s holidays. It would basicly be illegal to ask anyones age except to prove they are over 18.

  • I just looked up about On The Beach.

The Original Author was born in Middelsex, and his Father operated Dublin GPO; while the Easter Revolt in 1916 stormed the place.

You can take a Man out of the Warzone, but you can't take the Warzone out of the Man.
