I used to write too but my feelings towards it have changed and I'm kinda lost, both in writing and in general.
But if I were to describe what I liked to write, one of my projects was: a collection of 'scenes', focused on describing the sceneries and characters and having no plot.
I also used to write things inspired by Kafka (full of metaphors), but my most recent project has been a gay romance story (focused on one of the characters' autism, unmasking, accepting identity and struggling with apathy), I've developed the characters and have kinda settled on the style of writing for it (it's kinda poem like I think) but I definitely need to work on its world building more.
So in short, I like character writing and sceneries the most.
Now let's hear about your projects! \(^o^)/
Thank you very much! Almost finished the daft parody, and then will write the rest of the video. Hopefully finish by the end of next week.
Good luck on your video!
I'm so similar, way too many drafts, years of development, keep starting over.
What is your story about?
Cool! I guess the fact we are here means most of us are really interested in autism.
I would share my writing but they're not in English, writing my book is actually the only thing I prefer to do in my native language, writing normally though, I prefer in English.
I'm writing another Autistic Not Alien YouTube video, which is about music. I've written a song for it, which is a cold wave parody, and I'm editing the video for it (which is taking ages).
I'm writing a fictional story based in a magical world. It's been an ongoing project for several years. I've got a lot of drafts but haven't properly started writing the story itself yet.
You are so welcome! Great you find it relatable, thank you for your feedback!
If you didn’t already know this blog is the third in my series about Processing Mutism, so you may want to read the first two:

2. https://autistic-village.com/2024/03/04/processing-mutism-vs-freeze-stress-response-shutdown/
I will be writing a fourth blog in the series soon about Processing Mutism and alternative communication.
I really appreciate your comments, thanks!
Ditto! Who is your favourite character?
I love Nina for obvious reasons and also because by being so direct and honest she encourages others to think differently. Also having a job as a palaeontologist is so cool!
you could post some of your writing on here and we could give you some feedback.
I have written a book on autism and am enjoying putting it to video and posting it on YouTube.
If anyone would like the link I am delighted to share
Really excellent blog. A lot of it I can relate to. I'll follow this. Thank you for sharing it ️
I love Dinosaur! I definitely recommend as well.
Yes absolutely!
Constant expectations to switch tasks are unrealistic, distressing and deny all students but particularly us autistic students the opportunity to achieve flow states.
I'm not British and I'm unfamiliar with the topics, I think the only British comedy shows I've watched are Top Gear and The Grand Tour, I really love them! Know nothing about cars but they're amazing.
This reminded me of how I couldn't follow my teachers' schedules when they said how we need to do this or that activity for only five to ten minutes a day and I would get so confused that I couldn't do it. Doing multiple stupid activities that each take five minutes is more tiring than one interesting activity which takes 2 hours, now I know.
I definitely recommend it, I hope you enjoy it!
I haven't watched it yet, I've intended to get round to it.
Have you watched the series Dinosaur?
It’s great autistic representation and very funny, you mentioned the pilot episode in your article on British comedy.
I used to write about autism but have steered away from anything that's too personal.
I like this one though: https://www.comedy.co.uk/features/autism-in-british-comedy/
And this: https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/reality-tv/a43640575/bruno-tonioli-britains-got-talent/
Everyone has a story and I'm glad you're doing this. I think everybody should share their stories, makes everyone feel less alone.
