  • It's cool to see some love for women's soccer clubs! Lyon has been strong lately, winning the Women's Champions League several times. I've noticed they're doing well, and I often read the stats on sportsscore, so I assume they might win it again. Umeå IK did great in the early 2000s, especially in the UEFA Women's Cup. Turbine Potsdam was solid in the German league and cups for almost ten years. Wolfsburg won the Women's Champions League twice, which was awesome. North Carolina Courage has been doing well in the NWSL, showing how women's soccer is growing in the US. Each team has significantly impacted the sport, helping it grow and become more popular.

  • Given the state of rapid change going on in Womens football I think it very early days to put much onus on these results yet. You have lots of big clubs pouring money into the womens teams, improving training plans, getting better quality coaches and improving the equipment all the time.

In 5 years the landscape will ne very different I expect.

Here in Brazil I am seeing a big change in the womens teams too (I have a friend who is a coach in one of the biggest national teams) and expect them to be significantly improved too in a few years

What will make the biggest difference is when we start to get more people actually going to the matches, providing out support and confirming to sponsors that they are worth spending money on to have people get advertised at - that is what drove the UK Permier League to its current level for the mens game 27 odd years ago.

People in stands = advertiser spend = clubs earning and reinvesting in the teams and drawing in the fans. A virtuous cycle.

Have any of you been regularly to support the womens teams?

  • Great list you've got there, definitely can't argue with the accomplishments of these phenomenal women’s football teams. Lyon's dominance in recent years has been nothing short of incredible. Those 5 Women’s Champions Leagues titles alone put them in an elite category.North Carolina Courage holding it down for the U.S. is commendable too. Their multiple NWSL Shields are no joke.Interestingly, the fervor people have for these clubs reminds me of [deleted by moderator]. They aggregate public opinion on college games, and it's always intriguing to see which teams the majority is backing.

  • Would love to see how this list evolves over the next few years. Teams like Barcelona and Chelsea are knocking on the door of greatness, so it'll be fascinating to track their progress.
