Oh, I totally get that feeling! There's nothing quite like the excitement of spotting a beautiful bird right in your own backyard. I remember one time I saw a gorgeous cardinal perched on my feeder—it was breathtaking! If you're passionate about birdwatching like me, you might want to check out costaricafocus.com for their Bird Watching Tour Packages. They offer some incredible opportunities to discover Costa Rica's diverse bird species.
The Great spotted woodpecker came back again! Also, autofocus is annoying me on my camera, no I did not want to focus on the berries!
Yes I see what you mean. The other thing that helps me if I might be looking at a young bird is which adult bird they move like.
I've had a bit of a Google and we think it's a juvenile female blackbird. The speckles and reddish bits were throwing me off.
I think it might be. It looks a bit like one I saw the other day and at first I thought it was a Song Thrush.
Anyone know if this is a young blackbird or something else? I'm really not sure!

Thanks I will look into that.
I'd thoroughly recommend the Merlin Bird ID app, it's free and according to an RSPB guy I spoke to, about 90-95% accurate for UK birds. I use it when out and about when I'm not sure on something and it's not done me wrong yet.
I went for a walk in the woods today. The birdsong was lovely. Unfortunately I am not so good at identifying the songs so not sure if anything more unusual than blackbirds and those little birds, t...s. I had a lovely view of a Great t....which landed on a branch nearby and hopped between branches for a long while totally oblivious to me.
I have a robin's nest just outside my back door, they had 2 or 3 chicks which have flown the nest, then they built a nest on top of the original nest and had a second brood of chicks, I think there are 5, they're getting big and I expect they'll be flying the nest soon. Lovely to watch them.
Love it! So glad they are more common now.
Half of the field next to my workshop has been disused for about 5 years due to HS2 works. It was ploughed this week and returned to arable use. It attracted at least 20 Red Kites, they have bred really well in the last few years and are amazing when they swoop.

Not the best of photos as I only had my phone on me, but the great spotted woodpecker visited again and actually fed on the suet block on the pine tree!

I usually see pigeons around my house.
I hear owls at night frequently, but have never seen one. I have seen a bat before not really a bird but it does have wings.
Sometimes birds of prey can be seen by the hills as well :)
I like seeing the birds, flying up high, where it's peaceful and looks carefree.
I would like to be a bird I think.
