What are you doing tonight? Do you stay up until midnight?
I used to stay up until the early hours after midnight but haven't for a few years. I'll probably watch some films and go to bed, probably about 10 maybe a little after.
Downside to tonight is that people do fireworks and they last all night. I'm not sure about everyone else but fireworks are way too noisy for my liking, there should be a law against it after 9pm lol.
I'm looking forward to 2023 - I'm hoping it will be a good year and some positive things will happen, hopefully for all of us :)
Thanks, yes it is a worry, especially with the covid. Even if staff wear masks and ward fellows are tested neg, visitors don't all wear masks. And sick people are so vulnerable to infection, it's mad. People ought to be encouraged to protect others from colds and flu, quite apart from covid. His resistance will be down from being so ill, and he has hardly had any sleep between having to pee loads and his ward mate being very restless. He is hoping to come home today.
Sorry to hear about your Dad being in hospital. It must be a very worrying time for you, especially with covid still circulating in hospitals.
I hope he is well enough to be back home soon.
I love 10cc, thats such a good song. Dreadlock holiday was my favourite of theres. Dont worry Im not very good at reading between the lines either :-)
Yes its a message I felt growing up, dont show your feelings or your sensitive side just be a macho man like all the other boys. Did me a lot of damage too
Sorry to hear your feeling maudlin, I have been struggling tonight too so I understand
Live long and prosper.
I have difficulties with maths, so I'll just wish you a very happy 3732.
Sorry, I’m a bit rubbish at reading between the lines. It’s a message that most probably hurt a lot of undiagnosed autistic boys. Just mask and smile! Sorry I’m maudlin now. Happy New Year.
Just remembered, big boys don’t cry is the last line of a 10cc song, I’m not in Love.
They certainly are. King Tuts in Glasgow just before they hit the big time was fabulous :-)
Oh i know thats the message he was trying to dispel. I was just agreeing with him that its such a bad message if that makes sense
That’s exactly the message he was trying to dispel. Was you actually referring to another one of his songs? Big girls don’t cry.
A tremendous band, strangely underrated and superb live.
Yes I like red red wine too. I dont know that Frankie Valli song, I will look it up. I agree though, I think a lot of us men have suffered from that. Its like the "boys dont cry" saying. Just teaches men to bottle things up and not say how they feel and makes us feel we always have to be strong
7 clear.
I applied countless times, never got a word back; ditto for The Chase.
I'm listening to Sci-Fi Lullabies, the Suede B Side Compilation, and tomorrow I will head to a local Hotel for Dinner, with my Artist Friend, his brother and his sister. My friend will turn 59 tomorrow.
Really liked Red, Red Wine, written and originally performed by Neil Diamond. The Frankie Valli song “walk like a man” has that line. It comes from a John Wayne film,” The Searchers” It really struck a note with Valli, as a teenager it was basically the “man up” message, I think a lot of young men have suffered that message. That’s why he wrote the song.
Hi, Sparkly, and thank you so much.
As others have said, you've no cause to worry that your participation in the forums makes you annoying. From my perspective, I consider it a good thing when members are active in the forums and willing to contribute to discussions.
I was similar to you during the first few weeks of being a new member, and considerably more active than I am now... The relief of finding a place where I could ditch the mask and be myself.
Thank you very much, Billy. And you too, Triker. Really kind of you both. x
Also hope everyone will be ok with the fireworks, I know it isnt always an easy time
Happy new year to everyone. We will just be having a quiet one as I am still quite poorly. Went to costa for lunch and fed the ducks today.
Now just sitting cosily after having a curry watching friends while my wife and little boy play cars
Will be in bed before 12 with a hot milk and match of the day
