I see a lot of arguing going on around here so I wanted to talk about good news. Anyone can reply with some good news of their own. Hopefully this isn't too off topic!
Some of you may have noticed that I've said I live in a small, cliquey village where I'm unhappy, but we had our house valued the other day. It is worth more than we thought! So now I'm excitedly looking at new houses that we can afford! A light at the end of the tunnel! So it's good news from me.
Who else has good news?
Thank you! Aww that's so sweet, sounds like you're very close.
Always nice to see an old friend.
An album is always so much fun. My mum gave me dozens of photos of her and her family when she was little so I'm putting them in an album.
How lovely, congratulations! I don't dislike boys but I'm so glad I had a little girl. She is much girlier than I've ever been so she gives me clothes advice.
How nice to go to a wedding.
It used to be willn't but won't is just easier to say, so it became won't. English (and all languages) are constantly changing and evolving.
Oh that is exciting!
Hope you had a nice time with your friend.
Yes, England didn't cover themselves with glory did they, neither the team nor the country.
Adele M is back as HJM its great to see her back
The sword is a cavalry - Cossack - weapon. The rifle would have been attached to the saddle in a holster or slung over the back, I suspect that the bayonet was attached to the sword scabbard for two interconnected reasons. It removed the need for another piece of equipment to be attached to the sword belt; and having it on the soldier, rather than the saddle, would mean that the bayonet would not be absent-mindedly left on the saddle when the soldier dismounted to fight on foot.
isnt that interesting why put it on the scabbard ?
oh maybe because its a long one and can be used in close quarter fighting
I have about a dozen antique swords and daggers. Plus one bayonet - because it was attached to a Russian military sword scabbard.
I dont collect anything anymore because I tend to fill my house and my partner says no
previously I was into
Coins
Marbles ( "marleys" ) you had to play to win new ones. The good ones attracted very competitive games

I still collect old tools and use them. Pliers hammers axes gardening tools
I collect but don't trade. Its not an obsession but its nice to have something to hunt for when i visit junk/antique shops on holiday. Do you collect anything?
