Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far.
What is everyone doing?
I'm exploring the Skipton castle woods in North Yorkshire. With my trusted camera.
Thank you
That's a beautiful picture . It's so summery, really makes you smile!
Yes it is isn't it . It's ice cold, just perfect for when it's a really hot day. Your trip to the woods sounds lovely! I like walking and often go to the woods near me as well. I like how peaceful and beautiful the woods are.
Car air con is so good in this heat! The drive with the air con up full blast was the best part of my excursion to the woods yesterday

...As Miss Elephant says, Yes it IS a Thing. And probably a very good Thing. And so I support that Thing, though I Myself am as yet uncertain if I can use the Things required to ascertain that that Thing is really as much a Thing as You ask...
Here in London, to get a Thing it involves an awful lot of Things required to gain Things which aquire certain Things going towards Things then put onto the first Thing in order to purchase the Thing mentioned in My previous sentence, here. And then I can put that Thing onto My Spectacles, there, to see a whole lot of other Things which I shall not mention here as the the entire Thing I Post would just become too confusing.
...Elephant-In-The-Room... Very Glad Tidings to You, Ma'am!
"Nerdwax" and Rubber and Goggles... Thank You, certainly, for the suggestions, I might do well to try them. But I am so very certain that I would be Allergic to all of these. But, hey ho, that is life (for Myself in London)...
... & It is a bit cooler today. As You and some others may know, I did have another Thread for (complaining about) the Hot Weather. So I am trying not to post so much (complaining) here, in Mr. Math-Photographer's Thread...
(...Bah Humbug! People use their Car Horns a lot more! And play stereos a lot louder! And their Children run around like maniacs! And I have to water My Plants more! And My clothes smell of sweat more! And sometimes whoever is responsible for putting CLOUDS in the Sky forgets to do that! And the roads melt! And when there is no Wind then Windows just hang there and do nothing! And #!/=!=#&-$$@&!=_&=#-#!&==-__/+))#$_=!=/:+=+:+;=&$!& ...)
...But since this happens every Year, that is Me, there, not complaining or anything...(!) Everyone, y'all have a nice everyday!

just say your son took them :)
Robert - those wood sculptures are amazing!! What a place!
Thank you for explaining. I just got back from a walk in the woods with my 5 year old, it was really quite pleasantly cool and shaded. I would post the pictures but photography is not but strong point and they look like they were taken by my 5 year old!
It was very hot here yesterday. Air Con was on full blast in the car, so was ice cold. I work in a very cold environment so was happy at work.
Much cooler today though which is nice.
The woods around it are free.
But you have to pay to enter the castle and grounds inside the walls. The half of the castle that is in ruins can be visited. The other half where the family lives is private.
I spent most of yesterday avoiding the sun and keeping myself and my litluns hydrated. Then in the evening I ran my monthly group for autistic women in my area.
Your photos look amazing! They remind me of the woods in a place called ‘Jimmy’s Farm’ in Suffolk, in any case it looks like the walk was well shaded by the trees. I’m quite tempted take my two youngest for a walk in the woods today now! Is Skipton Castle open to the public to explore inside it?
Nerdwax looks tasty.
You're pictures are lovely.
I was burned out on the sofa re-watching some favourites and chatting on here about the unfairness of life.
I am a miserable, summer-hating goth.
Well, I got some fresh air and the walk had surprisingly many people, many were dog walkers.
Here we have a guide to the woods.
The castle on the hill.
Modern works of art on route.
Steep climbs.
And some Riverside walks.
It’s a thing...

Made of bees wax.
Deciding that today would be a great day to get my eyes tested, then having a meltdown half way through the test because of the heat, the noise in the waiting room and the fact they've just blown air at my eyes. Discuss!
Is nerd wax really a thing. I love that its a thing!
Dearest DC
Consider products such as wedgies (rubberised tips of the ear thingy part of your glasses), or maybe prescription swimming goggles... or the delightfully named... nerd wax..
Temperature for London is measured in the middle of Heathrow Airport. Acres of black tarmac?????
