There seems to be no other Thread (upon NAS) discussing this as a Topic, or Hobby, or its fancies... despite everyone who can read this actually doing it or using it.
What is it? I came accross it on the Christmas thread and got intimidated so retreated to my shell.
After dialling that lot, then you have the dubious pleasures of having to hear all the options several times before you just make a stab at it. After about 15 minutes of dreadful lines, you might get cut off or discover you called the wrong option. They redirect you, and more interminable crap muzak. Eventually you get someone polite and keen to help, but the llne is still bad and the accent isn't the easiest. Eventually you both figure that the agent doesn't have any real power, and that someone who has the power doesn't want to speak to you, either by phone, snailmail or email. Eventually you hang up and decide to visit an office the next time you are in the UK, if and when you can afford it after the expense of renewing your passport outside Europe. If and when you get to the UK, it is increasingly difficult to find an office branch that is open, unless you travel a long way. Don't forget to phone them or email them for a 10 minute appointment before you go. And don't be surprised to find in the end that it was a complete and utter wildgoose chase.

Hello world .
(Dear DC thank you for starting this thread. It may give humour to those that understand,it may cause concern to those who do not,as spotty tortoise has said she felt intimidated.)
The numbers above refer to the text directly below it. A translation if you like.
Nothing sinister or to be intimidated about, sorry if it upsets.
The above string of three digit numerical character sets is in its most basic of terms is a language used by computers to function. It is written by humans as a set of commands to create what we use.
A bit like Morse code!
SOS ... --- ...
we do happen to have many multi talented members who rarely get credit for the work they do, those who work with programming computer software and finding faults in its code that others may have put in by mistake. A very complex task which only knowledgeable and talented people excell at.
we take using technologies for granted but hidden beneath all we can see is code, a language used by computers, thier are various types but this is maybe the oldest.
I only recently discovered it myself. It is I hope used on here as a kind of friendly exchange between any one who happens to understand it in a light hearted way to another.
I do not fully understand it myself.
I saw it,wanted to know what it stood for and researched it, something I like to do.
sorry if it offends anyone that was never my intention.()x
Hi Senior Moment I do not cope well with numbers, I have limited working memory area,in-short a small loading/ unloading bay to put things on ready to store or load up for delivery.Dyslexic traits.
I am fascinated by series of numbers specifically even numbers?.
I count continually as a stress reliever,,,Well if I am stressed then I count,so white lines along short interchanges, how many tiles on an end gable of a roof, how many parallel wires on a heras fence panel. It helps my mind to stop focusing on whatever is causing me stress at the time, it does exhaust me mentally but I am compelled to do it.
My memory has little instant recall ability to remember say more than three or four sets of triple numerical digits.
My father was an amazing mathematician,a good book keeper who had to write everything down x2. Two books one for the client and one for tax purposes! No don’t ask Lol. He added up long series of figures in his head only using a mechanical adding machine to create a till roll copy.
Hi Senior Moment I like that,,,very true but within the context of this thread even more thought provoking.?????
Interesting. I also have similar issues, but perhaps a bit less than you. My father was good at numbers. My grandfather was a sort of engineer. I also like mechanical skills, despite my even more pronounced dyspraxia. To put it simply, I like fixing stuff, but I'm clumsy and ill-coordinated in body and mind. I also count in the mind and on the lips while doing tasks that seem to offer some relaxation and organisation. And that mental loading bay is so small that I frequently misplace the next number in the sequence. Then I either rip it up and start again or repeat the last number until the next is recalled. But none of this is really alarming. I'd argue that most people experience this at some time. I have even been complemented on my ability to calculate. The thought of the commentator was that most people would have walked to find a calculator. My response was that it it had all been done with very messy and long-winded written-down back-of-a-packet calcs.
Thank you Lone. I am curious but my brain is spread very thin at the moment. Other half in hospital a lot. I am so lost and unhappy, it's been great to check back in here and read things I understand (apart from the code). Sorry if that's too off piste DC, I'm just very lost and not having been around I don't know where to join in. xx
Hope you get back on piste a bit more soon. I just feel that machines frequently break down. Computers too, because currently they still require some human input. We all expect too much of each other really. But by opining such a loser opjnion, one automatically opens oneself up to yet again being called clumsy. Some really do seem to think they are or should be continually perfect. That strikes me as a very damaging outlook in the long-run. And *** most certainly does happen to them.
Argh was nearly finished my reply to spotty and it all vanished?
this site is becoming so unstable it is beyond belief, I am using an iPad tablet which is fairly new so I cannot blame it,therefore the site is rubbish it it ability to do what it promises.
Sorry spotty but just another glitch one of many on here.
I am really sorry to hear your OH is visiting hospital a lot....I am sorry I didn’t notice your presence sooner as I would have welcomed you back, There seems to be a lot of new members recently, not a problem if this site could actually cope, we get whole replies dissapering and reappearing,
Missy has been busy if late over the holiday period, not coming in here often, I am sure if she was about she would listen! Maybe try to PM her? I had a message just the other day, quite late and quite short, but a message.
ellie has had a lot of guests over Christmas according to what she wrote on the Christmas shout out thread, she visits when she can. Again another opertunity to talk. If you need to talk then feel free to friend request me, I know I am not one of the girls perse but I have a good listening ear and a heart.
please just jump in on any thread, any kind of etiquette seems to have been forgotten, it bothers me not as we are all free beings with free minds, so long as no one is rude or causes harm then fine by me,
I would very much like to offer a hug from me ellie and missy, oh and BlueRay she is very nice too, an amazing lady, so ()()()()( xxxx.
take care and don’t be all alone, you are much loved here by many.
