I desperately need advice.
My 28 year old son (Aspergers) has been feeling sad, very low, totally unhappy with himself and every aspect of his life. It culminated a couple of days ago when he told me that he is tired of being 'retarded', that there is no point in life and continuing as he is totally useless in everything, that he has no career, made poor choices and hasn't achieved anything. He says he wants to end it all. No matter what I try and talk to him he keeps repeating how he's feeling - totally irrational. So we are going round in circles. He absolutely refuses to seek any help saying that nobody can help him and the only thing he wants is to be 'normal'. He says he's had enough.
He is very smart, has masters degree, traveled the world, experienced great things.... but is feeling a huge burden. He started his own business a couple of years ago and is having some difficulties in keeping it going (he claims that if he were normal all will be ok).
For two days now he keeps mentioning suicide an ending it all . What can I do? I'm really desperate for any advice. I don't know what to do.

I'm okay today. However, yesterday, I was going into that 'Headline Stress' mentioned previously in this thread. Then, I went to a local Chapel to light candles for prayer intentions, then freaked out about potentially burning myself.
This morning, I braved the elements. Walking to a local shop, using my walking stick I bought back in August from Tresspass at Rushmere, to purchase the Irish News. Then I got a lift home.
I had been driving for over twelve years. But, this year, I had to take a sabbatical from driving due to the anxiety I get while driving. And the cost of maintaining a car.

its weird ever since reading a Zen Koan(wise saying) about suicidal thoughts I now view them ( suicidal thoughts) in a different way - I am no longer anxious about them they are just thoughts in your head that you can ignore with practice ( a lot of practice ! me about 1 year ! ).
I personally subscribe to Temple Grandin's approach "You cant use autism as an excuse". Again pretty difficult to do at times but keep thinkin it.

wish i could give you some words of wisdom but i have none, he is not alone though. I myself would be happy to die but I'd never do something to cause it. I also get the feeling tired of it all and wanting to be normal.

I was arrested and convicted by police for reaching out. It Has llost me £1.5m nearly killed me and decimated my family. no one seems to. Appreciate what I was trying to do

I felt suicidal on Saturday night - witching hours of Sunday - after several negative experiences in Belfast.
I talked to a Skype buddy from Toronto, and she helped calm me down.

i have been battling this for years and tried numerous avenues, some with terrible consequences.
can he write on here as to what avenues may be worth pursuing?
i know I feel extremely alone in my thinking and no one else seems to understand.
we need to find some strong positive avenues achievements to change the negative thinking. Everything can be turned to negative, even a mother trying to help.
Distraction, keeping busy on projects to try and stop the analytical thinking which will get worse if left unchecked

How does someone get sectioned?
In exceptional circumstances it's possible to keep a person in hospital under a section of the Mental Health Act (often called being sectioned), and treat them without their agreement.
