Hi there, my name is Danny.
I'm an autistic adult, I enjoy movies, restoring classic cars and listening to cool music. I've been doing up this really cool Austin Princess I bought before Christmas. I love classics!
This year I'm hoping will be a good one. I'm working with young children at a school but I have found it difficult, I'm hoping it will get easier the more I do.
Blooming hope so anyway!
I really wish there was more support for autistic adults but I guess that's what sites like this are for so we can be there for each other when needed.
Look forward to meeting you all and helping offer support if the occasion arises.

You are so welcome! I hope you soon settle in too, we are here for you.
Very cool car, I completely understand why you want one yourself! Given you like cars like that and restoration, have you watched the show Car SOS?
Danny said:That's a really cool interest and very rewarding too I bet! I have an interest in autism as well, our history and ways to hopefully grow better support. I've been in touch with my mp trying to get things improved.
It’s so cool that we have mutual interests! I particularly love the autistic led education platform called Aucademy which hosts monthly livestreams on anything and everything related to autistic experiences. Aucademy is brilliant! I hope you enjoy their content and videos too, links below if you are interested:

It’s great that you are involved in advocacy for our community, I would love to get involved with advocacy too!
What specifically have you been in contact with the MP about?
Danny said:Yes I'm lucky that I can go out to the back room for five minutes if I need to. My employer is more than understanding about my autism and the sensory overload I can sometimes experience. I enjoy the work so I'm really hoping this will work out.
It’s great that your employer is supportive, I hope your job works out for you too!
Thanks Buddy.
It's perfectly fine, you needn't apologise :) You sound like the talented mechanic and it'll always be nice to have someone to confer with when i need help :) You're good mate
Sorry, it is the ASD, i get paranoid sometimes. No offence intended.
No no, I meant it. If ever I need some advice, I'd very much like to confide with you. Only if that's okay?
Is Sarcasm just another Service You offer ?
I do agree in some respects though :) You do sound like quite the superior mechanic. I wish I had the patience to do such a job full time :)
Ah ok.In that case it sounds like You are onto a winner Dude !Long live the Beemer !
Replaced two months ago mate :) But if you allow a belt to get to that point then you're asking for trouble aren't you? And some engines are non-inteference, so it's the exception not the rule.
That sounds awesome! I love the old BMWs. I haven't had one before but I love their styling, true beautiful cars.
There comes a point when enough must be enough....
Sadly true with older cars, they require so much attention and new parts. Sometimes the repairs can be extensive and very expensive. I've got a Senator and several times I've had to remake the arches, sills and floor. Just rusts away all the time.
GEEnie, if your Timing belt snaps the Engine goes bang and is beyond repair. It needs changing every 50-60 K.You have a BMW so the belt is a metal chain, no rubber but even so, they do snap.I do most repairs on cars Myself and only use garages when i don't have the tools. When was the last time Your timing belt was changed ?If You don't know then You are on " borrowed time "Sorry......BUT TRUE.
Not true. My BMW is over 25 years old and is still as tight as a drum. Doesn't cost me much to maintain it. A car is only as reliable as the owner :)
Older Cars are money-pits Buddy.I have a 20 Year old Lexus and the timing-belt cost me £ 450 last November. Now the power steering pump is knackerd. Also, the gear box is starting to " crunch "By the time We renew everything, We have built a new Car !There comes a point when enough must be enough....
You like your cars. I've got a 25 year old BMW myself. Best car I've ever owned
Thanks mate!
Hello mate :) Welcome aboard ️
Thank you MM
Welcome Danny.
Hi Desmond, thank you mate!
I know very little about modern cars as well. They have a lot of gadgets now, cameras and sensors all over the place! I'm more at home with an older car.
I drive but rarely go far, if I can help it.
