Bowels

For many autistic persons a problem and a half. I'm currently in 'can I get to the toilet in time ?!'  mode

  • WARNING - SPAM - These bots are so annoying. Using AI to craft a credible response and sticking a spam weblink in. I'll be sure to carry a knock-off ink cartridge from a virus-riddled website to help with my bowel issues.

  • I went years like that and eventually after going to the doctor enough times and having the dreaded colonoscopy I  found out I'm gluten intolerant (celiacs disease).

I had to cut all wheat out of my diet and I'm fine now

  • I hadn't planned to post about my bowels, but since you've introduced the subject... :)

I recently had a sigmoidoscopy and was diagnosed with diverticular disease (DICA 3), with complications of rigidity and stenosis / abnormal narrowing.

Since they also found polyps, I've been rebooked for a colonoscopy, when they'll also remove them. And - bonus prize - I'll need regular checks in future. Oh joy! [heavy sarcasm].

  • I find I can get a chumbly belly if I drink cold water to fast, the other day I felt as though I were spirit level and everytime I moved the bubble would too, luckily it's gone now, with the help of some fennel tea. I think for me its stress that does it, especially when I'm eating.

  • I replied to you Alexa post, but was blocked. I'm unblocked now. Ironically, not my bowels though Joy

I have all sorts of problems here, that have plagued me all my life but got worse.

I did a FODMAP elimination diet. (Stop a load of food types, and then test each type one at a time), and worked out that I was lactose intolerant and a lot of other sugar types intolerant too. FODMAP is worth researching if you are kept awake by constant churning in your stomach at night - it's sugars fermenting producing gas. If you are also blocked up at the same time, it is awful. Night after night after night. Anyway, I have a stricter diet now - with the occasional treat that I accept that I won't sleep well after.
