I use the train at the weekend. I rode my bike to the train station and then used the train then rode to my Mum's house. I was very anxious about the journey, but it was not so bad in the end.
Do you worry about using public transport?
Public transport is becoming more and more problematic for me every day.
The big problems are cancelled and delayed buses and trains. And when they arrive, they are overcrowded.
I try to travel off peak for that reason.
Last month I was returning from Otley to Leeds by bus on a Saturday evening.
The normal printed timetable had buses every 20minutes.
The emergency timetable, because of COVID and staff shortages had buses every 30minutes.
I waited 1hour and 20minutes for the bus. When it finally arrived and left, the people downstairs were standing packed like sardines. People were even sitting on all the stairs. Perfect conditions for infecting people with COVID.
