I used fast cars, motorcycles, drinking beer, fighting, chasing women, and having bad relationships to try to fit into society but the real issue was I was on the spectrum.
It took me a long time to work out what the real issue was. Have you had a similar experience ?
did you up the adrenalin in your life to try and fit in ? like climbing ice mountains at night with a torch on your head !
did you drink far too much to overcome your lacking social skills ? Funny stories are most welcome as well of course we do need a laugh.
Have you made a complete tit of yourself ? lets us know please.
Did you join the army or the navy by mistake ? lets us know please.
does driving cars and/or motorcycles help calm your autism related anxiety or make it worse (eg road rage) ? lets us know
did autism cause you to be so aggressive you got arrested a lot,,,, how did you deal with it, how did your parents deal with it ?
telling jokes about your autism and autistic mistakes is most welcome
Here in my car, I feel safest of all, I can lock all my doors.
I can listen to you,It keeps me stable for days .In cars.
Maybe he's autistic as well.
oh, i see Pinarello got there before me . I suck at this.
noooooo, never, we're cruisin' along enjoy the ride
...Thanks again, this must wind down soon, surely. But, given this latest info, I wonder how many parents with lots of small children (I hate SUVs!) are paying attention... pfui...
dont tempt me, I would love to cruise cross America on a KTM 500 ideally on route 66
And don't watch any films or home movies with hand-held camera, it will turn into a vomitorium
Thank You! So what I found out accidentally... it is TRUE.
This information needs to "get out there" somehow. Like I said, had I known this as a child, I would not be posting on this thread now, I would instead be touring+exploring the World upon a KTM Rallycross Bike, for sure.
Um, or something...! Thank You again.
"SIT AS IF YOU ARE DRIVING." Yes, Yes.
Cool - so just overloading your brain with lots of near instructions?
There's a ride in EPCOT - Mission Space - it's a centrifuge - makes lots of people ill if you don't follow the instructions and stare forwards - move your head at all and you want to hurl!
I'm terribly car sick unless I drive. So yes I agree, sit as if you're driving and move with it. And if a driver makes you sick, it is their driving. Drivers can be trained not to cause sickness! Limo drivers for dignitaries and presidents learn to do it, so the passenger can read and operate a laptop etc in the car. No more excuses!
I had a Renault Megane it was a nightmare. The one with the big ass. Warning lights came on randomly and caused many garage bills. The motors on each window had to be replaced one by one. This one. I was never sure I would make to my destination
Hooray! A long term-thing I have wanted to Post someplace again! Yes, this is a serious thing... *ahem*...
I found out this strange manner: Sit in the Car constantly *as if about to get out* (i.e. upon the edge of the seat.) Stay alert, mindful of surroundings, turns, braking, etc. If prone to vomiting, it helps not to eat prior to the journey.
Stay on the edge, never ever "relax" backwards upon the seat.
...I have wanted to post this to see if this works for anyone else. I was astonished when I found out about it only about 10 years back. (I am 48 now, I was robbed of my youth!)
How did you manage that?
Plastic said:These things get tangled very quickly.
...I may have played a part in that: currently four of us are on here replying to a middle and end of this Thread...?
Still at the end - I got Car Sick, so I have *never* driven anything ever, and only after 30 years realised how to overcome carsickness... two more reasons why I did not start a Car Thread...
If anyone is interested, I can post how I overcame carsickness, but I kind of think that people with car sickness would not be reading this Thread...
These things get tangled very quickly.
What the best & worst cars you've ever had?
Best - Vauxhall Senator 24V - loads of power, LSD, power-slides & drifting whenever you want.
Worst - Chevy Tacuma - unbelievable tax rate and odd electrical faults - really unreliable.
