Aspie Women (and guest visitors)

Been good to hear from any adult ASD diagnosed women in this forum... or does anyone know any good sites for ASD women? What are your experiences?

...previous thread clogged as now months into its lifespan) ,.....

  • The women’s threads do seem to attract women new onto the forum so it’s nice to have one on the go?

  • We could start that in December? Good idea though. Women’s autumnal reflections?  Or similar..

  • miswired women of the net

  • So...new thread....what shall it be called? ....the Aspie women’s advent calendar?

  • Its still a long way to the bottom of this thread! X

  • I was missing autopia. Welcome back too. Also not sure why but I used to get notifications from this thread but I didn’t get DC’s message.. anyway here for now!

  • So....Missy, did you manage to circumnavigate Autopia......? Welcome back x

  • Hello. Yes sorry everyone.  I’m sort of flitting in and out of the forum in little bits at the moment so not joining in as frequently. A mixture of reasons and as Ellie says the occasional adventuring out into the countryside.

  • Good question.....I am currently residing in an Aspie hole, Spotty I suspect is hibernating in her shell...(not the best time of year for an active tortoise)...Missy is probably out adventuring....the others....I cannot account for x

    how are you?

  • Ar! I do remember now. Thank you for mentioning it. My mention of the dragonfly didn’t fit in with the conversation at all! But I was fascinated by the beautiful dragonfly dancing through my garden because it was an exceptional moment. And so in my joy I shared it with the others.

  • Concerning Dragonflies. Upon the "20170730 - ASD Women" Thread:

    Misfit61 said:
And bizarrely just had a dragonfly fly through the garden! Didn't catch a photo tho

or, if the "Quote" function does not show up, this is the TEXT:

Misfit61 3 months ago in reply to Elephantintheroom
And bizarrely just had a dragonfly fly through the garden! Didn't catch a photo tho

..And then after that, NAS replies to "NAS12487"...

The post is almost right at the end of the entire Thread. It seems to be part of "Chat/Chatting", of which I have no concept (!)...
In my own words, I might say that, of that post then, that it (The Dragonfly) was "only mentioned in passing", or I would define it as "Idle Chat"... yet that is of course only me, and why I do not/cannot do "CHAT"...
...And I MYSELF only noticed it and reiterated it thusly, because I have an interest in Entomology, and as I said, I also see them (alive) in unusual places sometimes! Goodbye again.

  • You are welcome. I’m not sure what the reference to dragonflies is though.   I’m not great at “chatting “ in real life which is why this was special somewhere to explore such things with acceptance.

  • Thank You for replying, there, I say. I regret that I cannot say more, since, as I often say, I am still finding Internet Protocols rather alien to me... Most of all and always, concerning "CHAT", "Chatting", "general chat", or such like... which I find that I cannot do... at neither the Internet nor at real life. So I only post this as a genuine "Thank You", and cannot really specify anything else...

(I have also met DRAGONFLIES as well, however...(!))

  • Yes indeed you have made assumptions but as that is how we try to make sense of things that’s to be expected. The different titles of the threads you mentioned were for the women using this threads convenience , to differentiate them from each other even though they follow on from one another. I don’t suppose it occurred to us to name them the same with consecutive numbers added. Afterall it’s our forum and we can title threads as we choose.

The only reason there was a daily update was that the threads got too long in conversation and it was easier for those participating to have shorter more frequent ones so they could be read more easily. A small group of women came to the forum about the same time. We hadn’t joined a forum before and were more confident chatting to other women and we hadn’t chatted to others about our autism before so we were learning a lot about ourselves and each other.  We then started to participate in and start other threads on other topics but initially it was important as a base to be women together.Other new to the forum , new to asd women found it a natural place to start too and so joined in which was great. We also wanted a place to be ourselves and not necessarily follow conventions of threads and forums and if we went off topic that was fine amongst our group. Other threads were started for the express purpose of chatting as we wanted about anything because several threads got hijacked into general chat which some forum users didn’t like. We wanted to remain chatting so we started chat threads which anyone could join in as a place to relax whilst maintaining specific threads on topic which I think suited everyone better. I hope this answers your queries.

  • Good evening to all. I write this post in light of recent events (5-11-2017).

In my previous post, I stated that I "retract" what I said concerning the differing TITLES of a Thread being the fault of NAS. To retract a statement does *not* imply the *opposite* of the statement...

And then, as I read the "other Threads" I see that they were started by different users (unless what I read is incorrect)? Thus what I mean to say is that, difficulty in following all of this is NOT the fault of any one person in particular.
(...Although it would certainly help if NAS showed Timelines and/or Authors (Starters), upon that "Related" bar, but they do not.)

The fact that I started a thread and then called the next one by the same name +"#2" was suggested to me by another member (Oktanol).

    --------------

Another topic altogether. As I read the previous Threads, it seemed to me that they were maintained as if to keep them from dropping into obscurity... that is, *DAILY postings*, kept them pertinent and in public view, to best attract NEW visitors. If I am correct in that assumption, then although I may understand it, I could never do this for myself... my devices are too old/slow, and, well, as you can see, my mannerisms would scare off a lot of persons (!).

Anyone who understands this post, and replies to it... as usual, I am grateful, and please do not tell me off too harshly for any erroneous presumption. Thank you kindly. That is all for now.

  • Common decency dictates that I should thank you... and so this IS a genuine Thank you.

I feel that I must leave off from this particular thread for a long time, now... to investigate and to peruse the other threads. (Seriously, no joke.)
I also feel a need to retract my last two paragraphs, for if the titles were so different, then that is certainly not the fault of NAS...?

Good evening and Thank you again.
