What is your personality type?

Handi-andis raised this on another thread and I thought it might be interesting to see if we all have radically different personality types, or very similar ones.

You can take the test at 16personalities.com, it's a free online test and will tell you at the end what your personality type is, and give you some descriptions of how people similar to you think and behave. You don't have to pay for the Premium version.

I did the test before I discovered I had autism, and when I did some training on autism discovered that my personality type and the description of how autism affects people to be very similar. My wife also found it really useful (for herself and for me). I find my personality type is very descriptive of me.

As well as finding out what you're good at, you find out what types of thing you struggle with, so that you can understand yourself better. It helped me see what my brain was good at processing, and what my brain isn't good at processing, so I can make sure I excel with my strengths and then get other people to do the things I struggle with Smiley

Post your type here if you'd like to take part.

I got INTJ - The Architect. I'd be interested in finding out yours!

  • Here's the results so far.

Interestingly, the INxx's account for almost 80% of the replies - only 5 out of the 24 total were not in this type family.

  • bit flash ...

    still “The Advocate” (INFJ-T)

byt also part-time awesome :) ... like the rest of us!!

  • .... are you looking at breaking this down by gender as well??

  • Doh, I meant if it, indeed, really does for NT people . . .

  • I think gender and autism are really interesting - I've seen research saying that AS women have 'male' minds and other research saying that AS men have 'female' minds :D  Anecdotally, I'd say there's probably a higher incidence of diverse sexual orientation in AS circles and it's borne out by research https://autismawarenesscentre.com/autism-transgender-gender-dysphoria/  The Cambridge study says that gender difference is 'flattened' in AS people - ie gender differences in AS people don't come from their brain chemistry (if, indeed, it really does for AS people).

My own feeling is that gender acquisition is 90% social and therefore AS peeps are unlikely to produce a hi-fidelity version - but then again I was reading about a female 'phenotype' of AS recently and it was like someone had been reading my mail. I'm INTP logician which is probably the most challenging for women as it's kind of 180 degrees to social expectations of NT women and I get really a lot of crap about it. Gender is obviously acting on us and probably leading to differences in experience of AS for women - higher intolerance from the wider population and stronger pressure to conform socially. But I'm pretty sure that differences between AS men and women are socially induced and not due to brain chemistry. So I'd expect that AS peeps INxx spectrum would not be much influenced by gender?
