The Adult Autism Assessment Handbook :A Neurodiversity Affirmative Approach

....has anyone read it? Just looking for opinions.

It seems good for those awaiting diagnosis. It was recommended today on the Autistic at 40 podcast.

  • I must say that I am impressed. The book is extremely well written. It's a guide for an NT therapist on how to deal with the issues of ND people. I checked the chapter about masking, and it says that masking is necessary to live in society and avoid bullying, and to NOT advise the ND to drop the mask unless in a special, safe environment. That's simply common sense and a solid advice.

That's totally different from what I was told by therapists and counsellors, but they had an IQ under 85.

  • Thanks for the review,  it means more coming from someone with lived experience.

Hoping it will help my understanding of the diagnosis process..
