It has struck me that because the mods locked the post about the new forum platform new members won't see it so I've copied it here FYI.
YES! I would have expected an update by now....on when/if "notifications" will become active again.
Loosing that important "connective" feature of this site, without warning, is not / was not cool.
They do know that we're autistic?! Right?!
Expecting an update someday I'd exchanged emails address with my contacts just in case goes wrong. Also Facebook as feel comfortable (in regular contact)
Just bumping ... it would be good to receive an update from the mods on this.
Just bumping as a reminder - the new forum should be up and running by the end of September according to the post that I link to below.
The mods said when the new forum comes, threads older than 2 years which haven't been posted on will be deleted. At the going rate that old threads are resurfacing it seems most of the archive will end up changing over!
I think that's a good idea. Perhaps we can have a subforum for people who want to debate. Then when a person does not want to get involved in debates they can avoid that subforum. I often end up more burnout after visiting the forum.
My main things I’m worried about atm are:
If PMs will be saved/transferred over
If the forum is going to have a different layout (I would probably adjust eventually but I think even a new color scheme would unsettle me)
What if some people aren’t online the days that everything is explained?
+ like 15 other questions/worries that I’m trying to shove aside.
I hope they revert to a more traditional 'message board' because this current platform is so weird and at times unusable.
I hope we're going to get that mute button. I don't see why I should be constantly forced to interact with people I would not choose to interact with. The whole concept of a forum has it's origins in Ancient Rome, I think.
Just bumping this (I am the 'deleted user' OP) so that if anyone wants to discuss the new forum, they can do so here.
I'm also linking to the most recent post by the mods as once again, because it is locked, it will be lost quite soon.

Bumping for the benefit of newbies.
Thank you so much for creating this. Very useful and informative!
Thanks for this!
