It’s great to see that we will be moving to a newer and better platform and that the moderators have listened to feedback.
Hopefully things will be much more reliable and usable from now on.
Thanks to Rosie Mod and the team!
I was just thinking the same thing!
I hope the new platform lets us block and mute
I am hoping there will be very clear instructions because my experience of systems being upgraded is that they are much harder to use. That is from someone who grew up in an age where technology was something that needed a battery rather than being wind up.
Just getting up to speed with this news. Thanks indeed to the mods/team for making it happen. I'm never great with change, but the adjustment will I'm sure be well worth it. I take it we can all just stay as ourselves - no need to claim user-names from scratch again or anything? Hopefully so. :-)
Yes, I agree. We can only hope the replacement is nice. There are a lot of very shoddy and unattractive forum platforms out there.
I actually quite like the look and feel of this one but it is awkward to use on my phone and there have been so many outages.
I cannot help but feel curious as to what the new and improved platform will be like.
Whilst we know that posts older than 3 years will be removed, we haven't been told about any other changes that may be made.
For example, will the forums be given a complete makeover with a different layout and additional functions and features?
In some respects, it's a shame there isn't a beta version we can try out. Or, depending on the changes made, screenshots of what the new platform will look like.
Part of me feels excited, but part of me feels somewhat apprehensive.
Good news indeed. This forum is long overdue an overhaul and I'm looking forward to seeing the new version.
Who would've thought an autistic community would embrace the idea of change
However the reality of adapting to it might be more difficult. Based upon forums I've used in the past that have migrated I've yet to see a transition go smoothly.
I hope that there won't be too long a gap between the platforms. Or I could fall down that gap.
you would have got oxygen deprived!
oh boy now I see a pair of platform shoes waiting by themselves for a train,,... help!
I saw the Saul Steinberg illustrations ("Bleeker Street") in my head when I read platform.
I thought this too. But it didn't make sense in my head because shoes usually come in pairs.
Oh dear, at 6ft 1inch barefoot, I didn't follow that fashion.

I'm a veteran who remembers the previous platform. It took me ages to get used to this one.
I hope the new platform means we can make edits to threads and posts without being pulled for moderation. I've just edited a new thread i created twice and it's been kicked off.
I don't like change! But hopefully it'll work more smoothly.
Same here
Very funny autistic literal interpretation!

An interesting word with multiple meanings.
Maybe we will get a steam train as well:
