Does anyone else get words or phrases stuck in their heads and say them over and over again either in your head or verbally?
I understand this is linked to echolalia.
My word at the moment is “frijola”. No idea where I’ve heard it from (usually, well always, I hear something to then repeat it). No idea of its meaning - google seems to imply it’s just a name. However I love hearing the word, sounding it out, the flow of the letters, and have just continually said it over and over for the last few days! Just wondered if anyone else does this, what is your current phrase, word, lyric etc that’s on repeat?
My very overwhelmed and overtired brain has decided to take this thought process at 4am rather than letting me sleep!
Louise...
Yep, I do this too.
Sometimes I make up words, which I will then repeat because I like the way they sound. Alternatively, I'll adapt certain words when I'm in one of my daft moods. For example, saying "Huggingtons" instead of "Hugs".
Thanks mate.

I'll take that over a "happy b**thday" any day of the week.
I do hope you are referring to a Spoonerism and no other type of ‘spooning’. As much as I enjoy your friendship a feel this could be literary ’stretching’ things too far.
Yours sincerely. A concerned Citizen.
Happy Flappy Woden’s Day.
Yea - I could rock that look beetch !
I do like a bit of cheese.......and thanks for the spooning last night by the way. Appreciated !
[Disambiguation, I seem to find myself in a flappingly fabulous wednesday vibe with WTAF overtones - No need to call for backup - I'm safely in my padded cell]
Ha ha, How many shepherds washed their socks by night? It was a must at every school assembly. I do have a vision of you saying cheeese with a dog named Grommet next to you! I think a green ‘tank top’ would be most fetching.
It's like that famous hymn "....And i'll lead you all to the damned settee, Dance, then, wherever you may be, I and the lord of the damned settee."
Language is soooo cool.
Remember The Life of Brian? Blessed are the cheese makers!
Yes.
It is!
And then a lady with a very thick scouse accent came on the telly before and went "I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ROCCCKINNNG CHAIR" and it was most pleasing to repeat this several times.
Ooh seethe is a good word!
It’s such a weird combination of driving you absolutely crazy but also bringing calmness and self soothing!
Haha :)
I’m sure it is probably annoying but at the moment Im all for doing whatever it is that brings you joy!
My word at the moment is seethe.
Yes 2 lines off two different songs which I keep hammering but I can't get them / they won't go out of my system. I wake up in the night they are there. One of the songs is quite repetitive in itself. It drives me mad but I love it.
That's exactly it Sloan. .....but I'm reliably told by others that it is very annoying when I'm busy pleasing myself! [that sounds so wrong, but you know what I mean.]
I feel with the word cheese it’s all about the pronunciation of it! I can see it bringing joy by saying it :)
Yes! I get this totally :)
Ooh mystical is a good word! how long do you tend to get the same word/phrase stuck for, do you move onto something new or sometimes go back? Just intrigued!
I wonder why hearing something repetitively is quite soothing!? Weird. I don’t know the science behind it!
