Paranormal experiences?

Dunno what it is but I put my hand in a odd shaped shadow once (intending to use the light/dark on my finger to chase it's origin up through the air accross the room to the window to see what was causing it) and got a static shock off of apparently nothing in the air, there was a light, "spark and arc", and the (not painful but) tingling sensation in my finger afterwards. And because I'd said "hey look at this cool shadow" before sticking my hand in it I had a witness who jumped out of his skin because I "looked like a DnD wizard casting conjure lightning".

Witness actually never saw the shadow, just the spark, and after the shock the shadown disipated, at first we thought combo of things ie shadow could have been a passing clound electrical fault etc, static in the air. But we never found an electrical fault, and we couldn't replicate the static even when we tried to recreate it artificially with balloons and a fluffy jumper. Just couldn't get it to do it again.

That's really cool! My grandfather saw ball lightning as a kid, and that was widely believed to be a myth until pretty recently. 

I wonder if it was some similar phenomenon.  Are you ever able to "see" an electrical charge in other contexts?

I think I remember seeing a ball of lightning, though not in a house, but on the road, when travelling back from the seaside after a thunderstorm. I would have been about 7.
